Hi Guys,

I just created a new wallet and send money over to it (Saved all the details in a txt) then my PC rebooted for a Windows Update... Now the TXT file just shows NULL NULL NULL I tried to open it with Hexeditor but I cant see anything in it. I was logged in into the wallet on my PC is there a option to recover it from the wallets file?

You mean you saved your 12 word seed in a txt file? What about the actual wallet file?

Can you go to %appdata% -> Electrum -> wallets; and see if there is anything there?

1. Yes I can access the Wallet file can I find the password or seed in there?
2. I saved the seed and PW in a notepad but my pc restarted and the file got corrupted - I tried to restore it in different ways but it didnt worked.
3. Is there maybe a way that I restore a file or etherium that contains the seed?

You don't know the password? You will need it to access the wallet, private keys or seed.

The only possible solution I see is if you try to recover the file somehow. But I'm not the guy to tell you how to do that. =/

Why are you talking about Ethereum? What does it have to do with your Electrum BTC wallet?

Not without the password.

You either need the password OR the backup seed OR the addresses private keys.

If you don't know the password because you didn't memorize it and it was on the file, and you don't have the backup seed because that was also in the file, then your chances of recovering the coins are near impossible.

Password is something that you've constructed yourself, can't you just remember a portion of it or a list of possible passwords?
Because the only way to access the wallet is to bruteforce it either by yourself or a paid service. But without a hint, it's almost impossible.
(be wary of newbies trying to "help" through PMs)

That being said, make sure to create a backup or two of your wallet file.

Electrum.... there's none, the seed is encrypted by the password and also the wallet file if "encrypt wallet file" was ticked (on by default).

Your options seem to be:
1) Recover the text file.
2) Remember your password.

If you did only store the mnmeonic code inside of a text file, you can not recreate your wallet.
Do you really not remember the password you just set for the file? Did you choose a pretty random one and saved it in the same text file?

You should definitely make a backup of your wallet file. Because if you lose that, recovering the password won't help you anymore. Is there any chance for you to recover your password?

Stories like these are one of the many reasons we always recommend to write the words down on a piece of paper instead of saving them digitally.
