We know that there are some really good options to mine using linux (ETHOS, HIVEOS, SMOS, etc).

But all this linux are restricted to use without charges.

Does anybody Knows a real free linux based OS ready to Mine?

Tks

MMPOS is no charge for the small miner.

From the thread here:

We are a paid solution with 8-14 devices free, forever.

Your solution is good, but has the same problem as the others, It is very limited if you do not pay.

I agree in pay for good services, but the meaning of this post is to find a free linux solution. Something like DIY that works without need to mange things using your plataform or paying fot this...

mpos yes..

Linux is free regardless so I am a little confused by your question. Unless you just strictly mean a mining solution with little/no work.

MPOS is great for me, the support is great too. I've had some issues lately and the guys bend over backwards in discord to help.

It's not just about the software, its the support....

No it may be some hacked version or whatever but Ethos is only available from gpushack.com legally.  But if you are going to buy a license look at more modern oses.  I am still a 25+ rigs on ethos....i have 60 total...but old rigs are long since roi’d and gone.

I like ETHOS becouse you have to pay only one time for 1 license, you do not have to pay fees every mounth. What OS are you using to the rest of your rigs?

I am using ETHOS too, and a mix of HIVEOS + Awesome miner.

Ive slowly migrating to MMPOS...it is a pay per month.  I dont think we will see an Ethos type pay once type OS especially one that lasted so long.   I like the folks behind MMPos and am impressed with the performance level.  Ive tried Hive, SMos and a fw others.  Ive even got a couple windows and straight ubuntu systems.

Ive made do with Miner-manager script for Ethos to side load new miners.  And even loaded cpu miners onto the systems and a few small FPGA boards.  One of the other reasons im partial to MMPOS is they support all of that.  Smiley

Looks like 2021 will require a lot of changes.  Figure ill ride out the 4gb eth before resorting rigs because currently most are mixed 4/8gb gpus.  Ive mapped it out on paper,..now just a matter of end of december forcing it.

And one last comment why mmpos won me over...no issue with mixed rigs.  (amd/nvidia)

/sorry if rambling been changing a dump valve on a waste water system and friggen beat.....

Hi!!

how do you plan to support epoch > #384??
claymore doesnt support it... and the other miners on ethos are very old (trm, lol, etc).

For my new rigs rx5700xt (i'm small miner) I use raveos (up to 3 free rigs), but my old 3 rigs (rx580) are on ethos and somewhere near end of 2020 will be unfunctional.

Ive found using miner-manager script i can keep current version of miners.  As for Claymore if a new version doesnt come out ill move them to another miner software.  4gb cards will be able to mine ETC due to dag reduction so may squeeze more life out of them yet,

Why people pay monthly for these OSes I dont know...just download Ubuntu and instal the mining software you want. Linux is no longer like the early days in mining where you needed to build your own kernels and drivers just to make it work. Latest kernels and drivers that ship with most distros run everything out of the box.

There are a lot of reasons to use a mining OS (LINUX)

Some reasons:

 - You can plug and play using a 8GB pendrive
 - Easier to chance settings
 - Easier to manage miners
 - Easier do Overclock
 - Easier to remote control

Of course you can do all this on a Ububtu by your self, but it is so easier using ETHOS, HIVEOS, etc..
