Localbitcoins account verification

I see that localbitcoin accounts will be closed in some states in the US. I never verified my account earlier as I had only a small amount of BTC in there. my Last transaction was in 2017.

Now when i go to verify my account, my account says "Verification is not allowed. Contact customer support for more information. ".

Contact their support. Since it looks like you are from one of the forbidden states, your account will be closed and you will be entitled to one last withdrawal to take your BTC out.

No one can help you out here except Localbitcoin's support. It has always been echoed by so many members here that never leave your Bitcoins in an  exchange or a custodial service if you plan to be away for a long time, Use noncustodial wallets like electrum or hardware wallets instead. I guess such an experience should open your eyes. A lot can happen in crypto space in 4 years.

My blocked account doesn't even give the option to withdraw funds, maybe support does the withdrawals manually. Lucky I had very few sats in there at the time it was blocked.

If the reason of block is due to the restrictions of certain countries then surely we can delete our LBC account on our own and can take any BTC left in there.

Almost every centralized crypto exchange needs KYC to be verified before making withdrawals from there so if you are afraid of KYC then you should boycott every CEX and move to truly decentralized exchanges but its not possible all the time especially with crypto to fiat and one crypto coins to other crypt coin.

I think the point is this "strict KYC", not just about "KYC". I think most people won't mind if they ask for ID and stuff like that, but a source of income and salary slips are definitely not usual. I'd rather use DEX or something less strict, but hey it's a personal choice. As long as you understand the risk.

If it's actually a small amount, say <$20, then just forget about it.

I think that you're going to find recovering the coins a huge hassle that is probably not worth your time, unless you actually have a sizable balance. You can probably earn back elsewhere the amount that you have in there with less effort.

But yes, go ahead and contact support if that you're serious about retrieving the funds - I'm 80-90% sure that they won't be a**holes and reject your request given their reputation, even if you are in a forbidden state. No one on the forum is going to be able to help you since LBC does not have active support agents here on the forum.

They have different tier system IIRC so people can avail 10K limit per annum by verifying their address and photo ID which is decent for someone who convert occasionally. And when our country doesn't really support cryptos or high taxes for crypto conversion then choosing the DEX is best even though the price offers are lesser.

I think it depends on where you come from but seriously their additional questions for KYC are so strict and pointless. When I check it out on my account, It's Like an interrogation. On top of uploading your documents, they want to know about;

- Your source of Income
- How much you earn annually
- Occupation
- Source of your bitcoins and proof of the source etc

I have a verified account on Binance for p2p trading, they have never required me to fill out such useless questions.

I am not using LBC for very long time but people where their country of origin has no regulations related to cryptos can go with LBC because they will get better price if they don't have any local exchange but I am not going to suggest LBC for people who likes privacy but we concerned about privacy when we all are installed google chrome in our devices.

LBC accounts in some US states will not be allowed to operate it seems. Luckily I was able to withdraw my funds, didn't realize it was a decent amount, over 25k. Had been there for 5+ years and I thought it was a small amount.

Thanks for all your comments. Was able to recover my BTC. I have not been active in the crypto world anymore.

Also, not active here either. Reason why I got this SCAM feedback on the account after it was hacked, which I recovered. What's a good way to secure your bitcointalk account? I see there's no 2-factor security here.
