Yeah, that's just stupid.  It's unfortunate that there isn't a good way to keep banned members from creating new profiles.  We all know they do it, even hilarousandco and the other moderators.  Unless someone comes up with a way to stop that, all of this BS is going to keep happening, which it most certainly will, since I doubt Theymos gives a shit.

KYC might slow things down a little.  (OR 2FA at the very least)

One "main" account plus one "mobile" account for account recovery/ban appeal etc.  Any other accounts for a specific purpose such as alt coin [ANN], ICO or similar should carry an entry on the profile page of which UID is behind the curtain pulling the strings.

Officially outlawing the sale of UID's (not just turning a blind eye because it's gone off site for the most part) would go a long way to restoring order and accountability.

Banned should be just that.  Temporary suspensions should have a different name to avoid confusion and successful ban appeals should be documented in their own thread.

This shouldn't be done automatically for the reasons mprep has already stated.

Yea, makes sense and for the most part I agree, but I probably should have clarified my OP to narrow it down to the marketplace forums where other than scamming and spamming there usually isn't a lot to be lost when one of the  OP's get banned and their scam or spam threads remain.  I do understand they don't directly get banned for scamming.

Just report those threads and they will likely be locked. If a user is banned and they're using sock puppets to keep their business going it's usually pretty clear ban evasion as well. They'll likely just create a new thread do do business anyway but just keep reporting them.

@hilariousetc

Here is an example.  The op of this thread (and about 9 other of his alts) are banned (thank you!  Wink ).  He now is bumping the thread with a very obvious sock-puppet alt.  I mean, how obvious can he be!  LOL.  Cheesy   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5273238.msg55754718#msg55754718  (archive https://archive.vn/xsTAD).  Yes, it was reported but just posting an example.

Quoting myself here.  MODS deleted the sock-puppet alt bump post of the BANNED OP of the thread in question (orig archive here: archive https://archive.vn/xsTAD) but did not nuke the poster (alt of banned OP) and did not lock the thread which means the same clown will re-bump again.
