Got a question here:

Can the present Electrum version support these cryptocoins - Ethereum, XRP and Monero?

Just wondering though...

If not, can Electrum's source code be modified to support those?

I thought there already was one for xmr/monero and it looks like you can adapt normal electrum for that.

I don't think xrp use a blockchain but the xrp client already acts a bit like electrum so you could probably find a way to convert it.

And I don't know how eth works or if there's a software version of it anymore that isn't online? Are wallet apps still a thing with ethereum?

The official repository of Electrum only supports bitcoin, and there are no plans to support altcoins in the official Electrum. However, people have made unofficial forks of Electrum for some altcoins such as litecoin and bitcoin cash. I have not found an Electrum fork for any of the altcoins you asked about though.

Unfortunately, Electrum focuses only on Bitcoin storage for the purpose of both convenience and security not for the altcoins that you have said above.
So, it means the official Electrum wallet is for Bitcoin only.  You can't modify the source code because of security reasons.

However, there's an Electrum wallet for these altcoins.
  • For LTC --> electrum-ltc.org
  • For BCH --> electroncash.org
  • For DASH --> electrum.dash.org

All of them are cloned with Electrum wallet by its own features.  If you want to use a multi-sig wallet just use an alternative to Electrum.

You can't modify the source code because of security reasons.
If Electrum's source code can't be modified then how do the other electrum wallet forks that support different altcoins come about?

If not, can Electrum's source code be modified to support those?
I think it's possible to create a fork of electrum that supports a specific altcoin of your choice like the teams behind these altcoins did;
1. https://github.com/Yzord/electrum-stratis
2. https://github.com/mmitech/electrum-dash
3. https://github.com/pooler/electrum-ltc
and many more countless forks
