The fees increased when there is a huge price movement if I see it correctly (and ofc on workdays for some reason, maybe because lots of traders are working at the time). If you want to avoid spending too much when you need your tx to be confirmed in the next hour or so, waiting for the weekend is still a good option. While this is not ideal for microtransactions, the benefits outweigh the cons imo. Especially if you count it from the sats/vbyte and not the dollar value since I don't see that many spikes from the usual ~60-80 sats/vbyte on weekdays to ~5 sats/vbyte on the weekend. CMIIW.
