Do you think decentralized marketplaces have a future? Or will they become a failed experiment? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
By now, it's certain that decentralized marketplaces do have a future. However, they do have shortcomings:
- Firstly, decentralized marketplaces are new technologies, one that the world haven't yet experienced its full potential. Just as Bitcoin started, it wasn't easy before people came to terms with what the technology had to offer so it took a while before people got acquainted with it. I think this is a major reason why these marketplaces are not being patronized. So in hindsight, it's just a matter of time before these changes and the developers of these marketplaces have to ensure their marketplaces are easy to access and get around by.
- There's a gray area around the regulatory stance of such marketplaces. We have seen a couple of times where government or even individual companies hunt projects like this. All they need is just to hit them with a lawsuit for sales of copyrighted goods/products or any other regulatory jargons.
