Why there are no rules against multi-accounting on the bitcointalk forum?

Because some of us are interacting with ourselves in different timelines, and it's the cleanest way to differentiate changes every time we make a trip to this period in time.

Every time we hop, we're moving to a different timeline, entropy increases depending on time differential between each hop, so with a local cache of data of data, we can see what has subtly changed every time we return to any time period.

We made a bad hop too far once where Theymos had banned all forum alts, and you would not believe the outrage that resulted. Almost brought these forums to an end before Theymos relented. Had to drop back about five years before finding a timeline where Theymos didn't go insane. We truly are a man out of time. Nothing resembles our former baseline reality.

not sure even participating in sig/bounty campaigns with multiple accounts is against forum rules but you could get tagged or removed from campaigns when/if caught.
The forum does not moderate signature campaigns or bounties and it doesn't violate forum rules, however majority of campaigns have their own rules and it usually includes one against enrolling with more than one account. It's considered to be cheating when you violate campaign rules, hence the tag and removal.
You can safely join different campaigns with different accounts.

So I guess the real question would be: Which one is the priority?: having less spams, shitposts and ban evasions or having the ability to make alternative account to be active on the forum when you don have access to your main account or when you just don't want to risk using your main account on other devices.
I would say the priority is probably freedom, allowing legitimate users to take actions without undue restrictions.
Putting a rule against multiple accounts would be counter productive as spammers and ban evaders would still jump through the hoops while legitimate users who do not want to break the rules would be limited.

As other members have already stated, it is not about having multiple accounts, but about how you use them.

Linked to the "theymos_away" reason to create them, you don't have to be him to be afraid of getting your only account stolen. I know many members who started growing alter accounts a few years ago, just in case one day they woke up to their main accounts being stolen.

On the other hand, there are members here who quitted their job trying to find a better source of income here. It may seem very risky, but taking into account the salaries that are paid in some underdeveloped countries, with so many hours available, it is logical for them to apply to different campaigns with different accounts, which is not bad itself neither.

OOohhhhh.  Maybe I merited him too soon?   Let's see if he proves he went to the future.    Might take us a while to verify the proof though.  :/

Multi accounting for the right reason, that I don't have a problem with just as others too don't have but when the cheating, abuses etc comes into the picture that's when it becomes a problem. We're all humans and can get emotional sometimes and just to play it safe, it's better you don't associate such statement to your main account especially when your account have gotten some recognition on the forum.

Many of us are from country where human rights aren't that respected as the western worlds which means you can't be free with your speech as they are because you might become a victim. I won't mind creating an alt just to air my view on a controversial, political issue I won't want to be linked back to my main account and later regret doing so.

The idea of also having multiple accounts and making everyone aware of it,  that I don't find meaning in unless the alts are created for service purpose like bots etc.

So my question would be - why air your controversial/political view in a bitcoin forum?  If you want to talk politics, why not go to a political forum?   Because there is no $$ value in building a reputation there?

The topic pops up on a bitcoin forum that has a subboard for political discussion that's why and ps, must campaign don't count posts made in the Politics & Society board so it's not always about the $$ as we presume with default.

As far as I know, bitcointalk does not require KYC (thank god). So, expressing political views with your main account or alt account doesn't make any big difference... Unless your main account has been doxed.

This is an anonymous forum. No one needs to know your name or other private details about your life. Don't associate your real identity to your forum personality. In case you become a victim of a government entity, there shouldn't be anything that connects your profile ID with your real name, like photographs, addresses, family members, etc. People who write in local forums reveal something and narrow the search field down at least a little, but nothing should posted that is too revealing.

It's very wrong to generalize that all persons having multiple accounts are scammers/cheaters. People can have multiple accounts for various reasons which aren't scam/spam. Sometimes for privacy also, they make accounts to say something which they wouldn't say in fear of consequences. But, majorly, multiple accounts which are created solely for scamming in signature campaign/bounty hunting, they are given red tag or temporary signature bans as these are against rules!

Unfortunately, this is true, I guess. I don't know exactly how many alt accounts have been busted in 'Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk III' (Mk II, Mk I) but I'm sure it's just the tip of the iceberg and new accounts are created every day ready to cheat in campaigns and promotions.
