I have to say this is unconventional method, the scammer avoid spam filter by visiting random website with live chat feature, enter your email, then fill the chat with malicious message.

If it's on your inbox rather than spam, some people will open it. Besides, it's possible you got important message (such as hack attempt on your account) which you don't expect at all.
I want to share a little of my experience related to email.
before my blockchain wallet was hacked, a few days before I got lots of emails related to airdrops, and emails from websites that I don't think have been on there. I have clicked unsubscribe but there are still many emails like that, this makes me annoyed and finally ignores the emails.
Then when I wanted to withdraw BTC from a blockchain wallet, my BTC was gone and from the transaction history I saw that my BTC had been sent to another wallet, and for sure it was a hacker wallet.
This is really a valuable experience. since then I was really protective of my email. hopefully, this can be a lesson for all.
