This is quite obvious. Many athletes advertise various brands, products, services. And these companies that they advertise have been using cryptocurrencies for a long time and even release their own. And besides, transactions of large loans of money are easier to do with cryptocurrency, and this is a fact that many rich people and various companies resort to.

That would be a problem for some people, I don't think that not everyone will be agreeing to the the prize pool in the form of cryptocurrency. Endorsement from athletes is a good thing too, if you ask me, they are sometimes bigger than the league itself, imagine getting Ronaldo, Messi, Ibrahimovic, Iniesta, Rooney, and Van Persie getting a deal and them having to promote bitcoin, the biggest achievement would be to wear a bitcoin logo in their jersey during a game.

guess, he is not the first one who accepted btc or in some way accepted crypto as payment. been long time that there are known sports personalities that are into crypto. just quick search and you will find one. i believe there are more of them

15 professional athletes who are into crypto

but the more personalities, the better for crypto industry. because they have different sets of followers and supporters. and those supporters in some way will check the activities of their idols and who knows, it will pave the way for some to check out crypto or btc. which is good for crypto adoption

Oh trust me bitcoin is quite big with sports. A lot of people(including me) has used bitcoin to gamble with sports/esports since like 2016 or earlier. Bitcoin is actually the best currency to use for gambling in general due to banks and typical payment processors like PayPal mostly having a negative stance towards it.

For bitcoin not for crypto.
Sadly the cryptocurrencies still have a long way to go to start being taken seriously and not just be referred to pump and dump schemes. The more bitcoin grows the less attention will be given to cryptocurrencies too because all the attention will go to bitcoin.

It is impossible for the next FIFA to use cryptocurrency to pay bonuses. After all, cryptocurrency has not been recognized by everyone. However, NBA player Dinwiddie also asked to use Bitcoin to pay his salary. This is a good trend that can attract more Of people join in.

I also often see famous sports players using Bitcoin such as Lionel Messi, Didier Drogba, Ronaldinho etc.

Example:
15 Professional Athletes who are into crypto

It can be said that in the world of sports, football, boxing, basketball, tennis, Bitcoin is familiar to them, for example what happened to Pacquaio, he has created his own type of crypto that is ready to be marketed called PAC coin.

My opinion is in the next 5-10 years Bitcoin will become one of the digital currencies that can be accepted as a salary for sports athletes around the world, that's my thought.

I have seen a celebrity advertising bitcoin before. But I never thought that footballers would use bitcoin to buy anything.
I think it all started with Watford FC when were sponsored by sportsbet.io puting on Bitcoin logo at the side of their jersey, it was quite a starting improvement and promotion for Bitcoin, after which other clubs in turkey and other leagues did same.

I also often see famous sports players using Bitcoin such as Lionel Messi, Didier Drogba, Ronaldinho etc.

It can be said that in the world of sports, football, boxing, basketball, tennis, Bitcoin is familiar to them, for example what happened to Pacquaio, he has created his own type of crypto that is ready to be marketed called PAC coin.
I think not only in the sport category, it also expands to entertainment industry, it happened that Akon, a popular Senegalese American singer developed his own coin called Akoin which is currently trading in bittrex exchange.

I think the adoption had gone viral already.Smiley

Enhorabuena! as the Spanish say.
Good for bitcoin, crypto community and the sports community.

This is an answer to how bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are penetrating the entire industry. So sports franchises are seeing the enormous potential in bitcoin and crypto.
I think this will be the beginning that more players start earning in bitcoin.

That's good news, really. As BTC will now be trusted by many other people supporting sports. As they see it as a probable source of income and see many known people to actually earn from it is a good step for the crypto community. Though, lets be real, this would mean bigger demands for btc that means BTC will soar higher this year. Might just hodl my coins a lil' longer.

This isn't something new to the market. Already few players have begun to get paid in terms of bitcoin for the contract with teams. Some teams have been officially sponsored by bitcoin related service providers. This way there is continued growth in the spreading of bitcoin in different sectors. However next FIFA isn't gonna pay prize in terms of bitcoin. Cheesy Cheesy

Bitcoin is already big in sports, the bookings are already using BTC and some other cryptocurrency. Adopting BTC and cryptocurrency in FIFA is going to make it better and maybe sooner the bad image of BTC painted by media will change.

Adoption has yet to make it because the media has not really pointed out to regular people that they can actually buy it as investment or currency itself.

This is an interesting piece of news for the crypto community. It is a major breakthrough for bitcoin.
Sport is one of the very few things breaks the boundaries of race, religion or language. Sports bring people together from all walks of life and it will be very useful in the adoption of bitcoin in the mainstream world.
If bitcoin becomes adopted by FIFA and other sports administrative bodies, it won't be long before bitcoin becomes the world's currency.
Guys, watch out for bitcoin in two to three years to come. You'd be amazed.

And just to add a little more information since we're talking about sports, in the esports scene, more pros are actually advertising cryptocurrency through the betting sites that they are endorsing, whether it be Bitcoin or ETH, they not only buy and sell crypto but they also endorse it to their audience, mostly these youtubers/pro players actually are the ones who highly endorse cryptocurrency and at the same time buy it for themselves to use it on the betting sites, the game I'm talking about here as well is CSGO

Watford has a bitcoin logo on their jersey's sleeve in 2019.
I am glad that Sportsbet.io sent me this jersey for free last year since they are the sponsor of Watford.

Also, Russell Okung became the first NFL player to have part of his contract paid in Bitcoin.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/panthers-russell-okung-becomes-first-nfl-player-to-be-paid-in-bitcoin/

In other cryptocurrencies, this Dogecoin giant sticker on this Nascar car is even more attractive to the crypto enthusiasts.
