Suggestion for existing posts or dynamic results for searched text

I wrote my own forum SW back in my youth just as hobby, in the meanwhile I see advanced forums like XenForo that take advantage of the today technologies but the feature that I suggest for bitcointalk forum is the Elasticsearch if I match correctly the plugin name, in short, while someone is opening a new topic, while typing, the plugin can list a dynamic content that matches the title the user is about to enter. As similar approach, the plugin can list the best hits (eg. top 5) that are matching what the user is about to search for.
By having this feature, double topics can be avoided, of course the disadvantage is that the users running signature campaigns will have less activity as they'll not answer same thing to the next newbie comes.

If owners want to migrate to new forum SW then my suggestion is to go for XenForo due to its look and feel, I have no clue about vulnerabilities found but it worth checking some forums that are running it.

If existing forum SW is desired to be kept then see my above suggestion for improving the user experience, it should not be so complicated to be written with AJAX and some DHTML.

This could be a good idea, especially about updates in the Bitcoin space which would have likely been posted in other boards. I however don't think forum plug-in is an area the admins want to explore.

Reduction in spam is not a disadvantage. The disadvantage here would be that spammers can still go ahead to post a thread even if they are informed one on the exact topic exists.

I'm not a back-end coder by any means but seeing how they've been working on "Epochtalk" for the past few years, I highly doubt they'd throw away those efforts and switch to another SW.
