What is the meaning of discard stale on Ethereum mining pool? I've never got one before until today, can someone enlighten me what this is all about? I'm sure it's different from rejected shares, is it something to worry about ?

Nothing that happens that infrequently is worrying.

Pools periodically send new jobs, any share submitted for an old job is considered stale and rejected by the pool.
Not all miners report these shares as stale, some just report them as rejected.

Stale shares occur due to the latency from the pool sending a new job and the miner receiving it.
If the miner sends a share using the old job in that window it will be rejected as stale.

Network latency can make stale shares more likely. High latency increases the size of the window between a pool
invalidating an old job and the miner receiving the new one.

There isn't anything much you can do about them, except make sure you have a good network connection.
If the pool has regional servers, choose the closest one to you.

JayDDee is right, this ain't a big issue and it happened because of your network connection, I suggest you change the pool server to another, probably the one nearer to your location and you won't see such again

It's nothing to worry about, change your internet connection to 4G speed or LTE and say goodbye to such error while mining, also check your pool server, make sure that the server is set to nearest country, this will limit your rejected shares, now I have 3500 shares accepted with 5-7 rejected, I believe that's extremely good
