Ledger balance help

Hi. I just found my old Ledger, is there any way i can check all balances without installing the apps? Idk which coins i may have stored on them and i dont feel like installing and deleting every app

Unless you have an old copy of Ledger Live installed somewhere which is synced with all your various altcoins and accounts, then the answer is no I'm afraid.

If you just have the device and nothing else, then you are going to have to install the app for every coin you might have stored on the device and check them all one by one.

Ledger live will automatically dedect if you have any balance in the installed app. However installing and deleting one after another app is just time consuming and pain in the A**. Hope you get some surprise. Good luck!

Most of your coins are probably in ETH chain, maybe a few in TRON.
I would just install those 2 app that you will see most of your balances.

THere are hundreds of tokens in the ETH chain... probably most of your balance you can see only by installing this app.

Keep the seed somewhere safe just in case you remember what coins you had on it. Take a piece of paper and for every coin you've checked through Ledger Live (or a third party wallet for coins such as eGLD which do not work through Live), write its name down on a list. In a matter of weeks at most, you'd be able to verify the balance for most if not all coins and also know which have been verified and which haven't.

I had similar dilemma with my old seed phrases generated in some unknown software wallet, but problem with Ledger Nano S is limited memory space for installing apps
so you can only install few of them and there is no real way to check balance for all of coins you used and you need to install them manually one by one.
You can check on Ledger website and see what coins are supported by Ledger Live to get some idea what coins you may used.
It would be a good idea to backup or write used addresses and all used coins in future so that you can later check balance in any explorer.
