The premise of the app was to connect people around their passions: https://www.passionfruit.me/

Growth has been difficult. It could be not useful enough. I thought of an idea to adapt it to fit the needs of crypto enthusiasts and newcomers specifically. For example, perhaps each user would display which token they are most passionate about (OK to leave this part blank for novices), and secondly which token they would like to learn about the most (novices can be given suggestions, e.g., BTC).

The idea is to create a different style of conversation around cryptos. 1 on 1, more intimate, more of an ongoing dialogue than you might find on Reddit/Discord. I have private conversations with a few people on crypto which supplements my public digging. Some people might not have that luxury. For newcomers, it might solve the problem of Reddit/Discord/forums being quite intimidating and information overload (joining conversations that have already started). For experts, it could be a way to bounce ideas around that allows more context, focus, and followup. Perhaps for expert-novice pairs, we could introduce some sort of tipping system for advice that proves useful in hindsight.

This idea is fresh in my head. Some of you might have ideas on how to improve it. I just get the intuition that it could be useful, as Googling to research ~300 coins last month did not always yield quality results for me. This space is still young enough that Google/Reddit doesn't always yield the best insight. Also, could it just be more fun to complement your research this way?

Its a good idea for sure, But for crypto i didnt think intimate chat is better than a group discussion since private chat usually used by scammer to scamming people since nobody cant counter the opinion that used by the scammer to hypnotize the victim.

Crypto people do care about privacy and ways to keep that (hence Telegram). They also do care about being able to mine coins and now NFTs.

If your chat can reward activity and pay in an established crypto like BTC or even DOGE now or give people a chance to build or get NFTs on TRON or EOS or BSC,,, then maybe you have a chance.

People want something like twitter that doesn't censor and rewards them with crypto. They want public group chat, not private but they also want the app to not spy on them. Users want to receive crypto for posting and to tip others for their posts. The problem is that how do you keep the value of the token up when everyone is receiving it and how do you incentivize people to give their tokens away as rewards? I could help you figure that part out but you would have to pay me.

You forget that the crypto community values its anonymity. Anonymity is one of the most valuable attributes of crypto, especially the privacy aspect.

The main problem will be to lure professionals into this chat. On the forum you can read the user's posts, reviews about him and draw conclusions about his knowledge and qualifications.
In Private Chat, it is impossible to check the qualifications of an opponent and this opens up great opportunities for fraud.
Any discussion should be open

Really good feedback. Thanks everyone.

I agree that you need professional authority. In my opinion this would be complementary, not a replacement for primary information. For myself, I used Discord, Telegram, and Reddit for secondary research. Each has its limitations. On Discord and Telegram, it's hard to keep up with a flowing thread. It's too much information, too fast, and not tailored to your unique situation. I probably found Reddit to be the best place to gather secondary research. There too, most of the time you can't rely on professionals. You have to judge the merits of a person's argument purely by its content.

It will take a baseline of common sense for people to avoid fraud. Maybe that's too high a bar to hope for? Maybe what we should in fact do is encourage people to get second, and third opinions. For example, you could be exposed to a variety of people with different arguments in their conversations. Having more breadth of exposure will allow you to pick out the con artists and those who have real insight to share. Ultimately the aim is to help people come to the conclusion that there are no guarantees in this market, but there are interesting (if not paradigm-shifting) projects happening, and healthy speculation is warranted if done responsibly.

In a way, it is injecting more of a social element. Making it more friendly for mainstream breathren to get what it's all about. There's been a lot of focus around trading, price movements, etc. But real community building - bringing more people who care about the developments made here for the long term, that hasn't been attempted as much in my view.

As far as privacy: it's a mixed bag. As one person mentioned, if we make it totally anonymous like Telegram, it's more of a safe haven for scammers. On the other hand, another of you mentioned crypto and privacy walk hand in hand (to some extent, otherwise Monero would be the undisputed king). It might not be for everyone, but using real identities sets a different tone, one about actions and consequences.
