Hi, been following this community from the background for quite some time.

I have one machine with RX470 4 gb which I'd like to use for mining, connected to Dell computer (OptiPlex series).

Due to the placement of the computer (building storage) I'm using LTE modem for connection.

Unfortunately neither of the Linux miners connects to the internet, I managed to get HiveOS online for couple of minutes for configuration and that's it.

When I connect windows machine or try NiceHash from windows it works normally.

Don't think it's related to LTE modems/routers since I tried with multiple Huawei CAT12 and ZTE CAT6, if I connect my windows machine to the router it connects to the internet immediately.

Any ideas what could cause such behavior?

Connecting Linux to the internet is the most easier cos no connection settings is needed, just plug in the wlan cable from your router to the pc and you will have connection available, no need to do some configs like password like you would do on windows, oh forget modem you can only use router for internet connection on Linux mining OS

I take it you mean a LAN (networking cable) instead of WLAN (as that is wifi)
HiveOS should be able to connect via WLAN (wifi) to, but I prefer a cat cable above anything else, less hassle.

I also thought LAN connection would be much easier but it isn't in my case, will try with wifi card.

Sorry I meant the LAN cable because no internet connection settings is required when using the LAN cable it's just a plug and play thing automatically less stressful unlike inserting WiFi password

Huawei CAT12 has 3xLAN ports.
Connect your mining farm with a LAN cable, and everything should work if the network card and cable are working properly.
I have not seen such problems in Hive OS. Sometimes 1 or 2 times a month the farm stops mining, but this is not a Hive OS problem. This is most likely a problem with old video cards.

It doesn't matter which mining OS you are running LAN connection will get things running up faster than others, just choose an OS that you understand the config and dashboard very well, I choose hiveOS over others because it's what I just prefer and understand than others

I'm not complete newbie on operating systems but strange how I can't get internet connection over any linux mining OS', I doubt it's related to onboard network. As you mentioned when you connect LAN cable it should automatically get IP address from the LTE modem but it for some reason it doesn't, strange.... will try with wifi card and with another network card. Could it be something with the motherboard?
Dell Optiplex 7050 or 7070?

Do you have such a motherboard?
Buy any cheapest PCI network card and reinstall your Linux OS.
You may have problems with the drivers for the network card.
Or find out which network card is integrated into your motherboard to install drivers.

I think that's the one, so it could be onboard network card and linux OS issue?

Changed computer to Optiplex 9010, connected additional network card to last PCI-ex slot, I get the IP address from LTE router's DHCP
but, can ping router and Dell network card, can ping google, resolves IP address but no reply.
If I try to ping 8.8.8.8 no reply....

This is a routing problem either from your network router or from your isp.

There is nothing linux wont network too.

Windows on the same machine Optiplex 9010? Just to be sure that is everything okay with your hardware.
It seems to me that is a hardware problem or something with the router.

Did you try to set manually fixed IP addresses and DNS?

Hi guys,

wanted to thank all of you, at the end it was an issue with APN setup in the router.
During initial installation, internet connection was working on Windows a very for short time, based on that I concluded internet was working under windows.
I'm not sure how or why, probably due to similar APN of the internet provider since SIM card in LTE router was from a sub company of local tcom.

While in all versions of Linux mining OS it wouldn't work at all.
At the end of the day, frustrated, I'm installing windows 10 and OS won't activate.... checking... no internet connection, opened Chrome.... sub-company window message pop-up change the APN.

Once APN was changed windows and Linux mining OS got connected to the internet immediately Smiley
