Does anyone else find Michael Saylor a bit over-the-top?

I think it is foolish to think that ALT coins are a bad investment. While some are garbage, there are way too many good projects out there to ignore.

They ARE bad investment because they are useless. Think about it yourself, when was the last time you used and altcoin? Note that I'm talking about using them not just buying and hoping for the price to go up. They are called cryptocurrency after all.

He doesnt care about his popularity and he certainly wont get involved with $hit tokens.
He is so vocal and active online because he alone was pretty much the first institutional
investor to put millions into Bitcoin, he wants to make sure that as many others get involved
because it strengthens his position, as well as all ours too.

Dude knows his shit, but he's pretty cringe a lot of times and gives out pretty bad advice. There's this one frequently-memed-out video[1] where he says "take all your money and buy bitcoin, then take all your time and figure out how to borrow more money and buy bitcoin", which is definitely some dangerous advice for the masses.

Agreed, he is very cringey similar to many other maximalists. However, he might become either the biggest cringey clown in the cryptospace or one of the richest cringey bitcoin billionaires of the future hehe.

Surely the same accusation can be levelled at bitcoin - 95% of holders/investors/owners have never used it for anything but investment/speculation and 99% of all transactions are for the same purpose.  (Both numbers made up on the spot but I bet they are broadly correct).

Just look at all the “hold your bitcoin, never sell” messages you see on here for evidence.

I find this EXTREMELY narrow minded. ALT coins have proven to have considerable utility. Look at projects like VET and XRP. To say that they do not provide ANY utility is just pure ignorance. Do not even get me started on DeFi. I think that Bitcoin maximalism can be very dangerous when it is presented in tandem with misinformation.

Again, referring to the original post, I am firmly confident Bitcoin will remain the top cryptocurrency. However, we need to be realistic and factual when we discuss ALT coins. I get this is a Bitcoin forum, however, but I have a feeling this crowd isn't very fond of misinformation.

XRP is one of the worst shitcoins there is. It is 100% pre-mined and is one of the most centralized also. It is like PayPal but slower, less efficient and more expensive. VET is also another highly centralized blockchain that is going nowhere.

The only thing that bothers me about Michael Saylor is that he's using the deep pockets of himself and his friends to attach himself to Bitcoin in a way he hasn't earned.  He learned about BTC only a couple of years ago, which would make him a newbie by most of our standards, yet the guy is spearheading Mining cartels and having meetings with Elon Musk about Bitcoin's future...  It's crazy how having a lot of money can make you instantly important wherever you decide to throw it.  I'm glad he's using his platform to promote Bitcoin, it just seems like sometimes he's using Bitcoin to create a platform for himself.

Everyone is actually free to say anything about Bitcoin. Including Michael Saylor who often thinks too much about Bitcoin. It's his right to say
something good about Bitcoin, but if he does it too much other people will see it as bad. Because Bitcoin is not everything in this world,
so it would be too much if Michael Saylor said he would buy Bitcoin with all the money he had. Especially to the point of underestimating altcoins,
because not all altcoins are bad. So, as humans, we have to be careful what we say to other people.

The only thing I learned from this was that you are not educated in how either of these currencies work. It's a shame for someone to make such a bold statement without any real substance. Have you even read Bitcoin's whitepaper? Have you read any whitepaper?
