Despite consistently being one of the most active locals, Croatian board is still in the group of (in my opinion) under merited local boards. We have occasional decent month when merit sources outside of our local board, but only long term solution is to make @dkbit98 a merit source!

Regarding it's for betterment of the forum I think it's welcomed development, because all the merit source in the community is a helping hand's to the growth of members in the forum, I support the application because it will create another credit to people in English writting boards also, not only on a local board as stipulated by op, emphasising on the local board alone showing that it's only your local board you have in mind to apply as a merit source, I think some of the English boards have to be in your agenda to shown that the merit will be in circulation, I'm strongly behind your wish op.

I totally agree with you and thank you for this information.
It has long been apparent that quality posts in our local community receive less merit than quality posts in other local sections and the time has come to change that fact.

I know I've already lent my support to dkbit98's application, but I'd like to do so again--and I'm wondering why Theymos apparently hasn't added any new merit sources to replace the ones that (I think) have dropped out in the past year or so. 

While it's true that there haven't been anywhere near the number of "how do I get meritz?" threads (or similar ones) in Meta as of late, I still think there ought to be more merit sources, and especially ones who frequent the main section and at least one local board, like dkbit98.  Members aren't bitching about how hard it is to rank up anymore, but that doesn't mean it got any easier.  To the contrary, I think it's harder than ever, and I also think a lot of members have just given up trying to rank up nowadays.  It should be hard to do so, but not that hard.

Him being silent about merit and not approving anyone for almost year and and a half (if I am not mistaken) means that he is obviously  satisfied with the current merit numbers. That of course doesn't mean that people should stop trying to get merit source position.

Members aren't bitching about how hard it is to rank up anymore, but that doesn't mean it got any easier.  To the contrary, I think it's harder than ever, and I also think a lot of members have just given up trying to rank up nowadays.  It should be hard to do so, but not that hard.

One thing that might cause the issue is the fact that some merit sources who  had among biggest monthly merit allocations (at least based on their merit sent) are not active anymore, like @bonest261 and TMAN. As a matter of fact, there is even a list of inactive merit sources.

Exactly. We could definitely use some help, as last month was one of the worst we had so far, maybe even the worst since i am making Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity. So yeah, @dkbit98 becoming a merit source would really help us to move from the bottom.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand  words, so here is the last month's local board performances. Croatian board had measly 0.07 merit/post ratio during February 2021. Let's see if we can go lower than that :p.

yeah, there is a discrepancy between post quality on Croatian local board and merit number for the board
it is probably due to the fact that there is no enough merit sources with the community, and other merit sources are not familiar with the languages

As a matter of fact, we have two merit sources active in our board, but problem is that their monthly allocation is quite small compared to other merit sources. Some of them  get few dozens of merit per month, while some get several hundreds so even if local board has few merit sources it can still be under merited, like in our case.

Unfortunately for us (and some other local boards that are in similar situation) theymos is obviously satisfied with the current merit numbers so all we can do now is wait, keep writing good posts and hope for the best.

Unfortunately, I have to confirm that this is true.
As merit source I don't have enough merits to reward enough all quality posts in Croatian locale.
That's why I often have to limit the number of merits I share, so that everyone gets the merits they deserve.
I hope this situation will change in the future.

As a member of the Croatian community, I completely agree with the above.
All statistics show that the Croatian part of the forum is at the top in terms of activity and other parameters, but unfortunately we don't have enough merit sources and quality posts don't get enough merits.
Dkbit98 is a respected member of the Croatian community and has the support of the entire local community in his request to become a merit source.

If you aren't willing to promote dkbit98 as a merit source (for whatever reason you might have), at least increase the monthly merit supply for Daniel91. A local board with so many quality posters as the Croatian (and no, I am not being subjective, it really is) deserves a bigger supply of merits if you take into account that other boards have 2, 3, or 4 times more than our guys.

Sooner or later theymos will have to re-evaluate merit situation as month after month overall amount of merit shared across the forum is decreasing, with this month having a good chances to reach new all time low. And when it comes to that, Croatian board definitely deserves to be have another merit source, given our board activity and quality of posts.

We need to come up with some precise stats of exactly how much total circulating smerits are decreasing and hence it is difficult for the people to rank up.
I don't think that theymos will re-evaluate the merit situation unless we come up with proper homework and convince him.

Total circulating smerit is decreasing without the doubt, which is expected to happen if you don't replace inactive merit sources regularly. It's perfectly natural for people to take  a break from the forum and come back later, but "problems" start when they are merit sources. Or to quote one of my posts from few days ago

Looking at last couple of months, there is change, but for the worse unfortunately. For example, since introduction of merit system, there were only four months during which merit shared across the forum was below 16,000 mark, and out of those four months, three were this year ( March, April and May).  Another example to show generally negative trend; from October 2020 up until May 2021, amount of merit shared was constantly reducing, with each consecutive month having less amount of merit shared than the previous one. May barely stopped that trend, with 251 more merits hared than during April.

Judging on the amount of merit shared in the first 17 days of May, we might hit new all time low. I am pretty sure that theymos has all this data, but maybe he doesn't think that situation is alarming due decreased amount of posts, so he is hesitant to make adjustments just yet.

Just by looking at how many of our local members are participants in the two top paying signature campaigns (ChipMixer and Best Change), you can get a good insight of the quality of the members posting there. That shouldn't of course be a determining factor, but it's not something to neglect either. No one gets into those campaigns by chance as the screening process is pretty strict.

But our merit per post rate is too low. We practically have to "steal" merits in the general parts of the forum to get some sMerits for the Croatian local as there isn't enough to go around.

A monthly analysis of the forum confirms this fact.
I think that the quality of the Croatian part of the forum is at a level that requires at least one more merit source.
It seems to me that this situation (lack of merit sources) is similar for the whole forum so I really hope that theymos will soon analyze this situation and promote new merit sources.
We already have very good applications for merit source in Meta, so it should not be a problem to choose very good candidates for new merit sources
