I have just opened an account with Coinbase and completed all of the verification processes including the Coinbase quiz. When I go into my account, all of the boxes are ticked including the verification box and the only thing outstanding is to fund my account. I do not want to buy crypto or transfer Bitcoin from my Electrum account until I deposit and withdraw some cash and check that everything is working correctly. When I select "deposit cash" I get the account restricted message and I am taken to the verification page where I have now uploaded my documents three times! I tried emailing support@coinbase.com and got an instant auto reply that the email address is no longer monitored and it gave me a link back to the help pages. I have already googled and confirmed that you do not need to buy crypto (step 4) to fund your account and you can simply deposit cash. Can anyone advise me how to proceed, or should I just forget Coinbase and try a different exchange? I am not interested in trading, I just want a simple way to transfer and start cashing in the Bitcoins I bought seven years ago and are in my Electrum wallet.

You mean Coinbase is rejecting your KYC documents? Which means you do not have a verified account yet and you can not be able to deposit or withdraw.
Hope you submitted the legit documents? Make sure you take the picture from a a bright place. Hope nothing happened to the document already like somewhere faded in the document already? You can use another document instead to see what will happen.

Maybe your account is still under verification? Just give it a bit more time to complete the process. Once it’s approved, you should be able to proceed with depositing into your account. Since Coinbase is an exchange operating in US, they tend to be strict with KYC verification, so you’ll need to pass their requirements.

If you're sure that you're not doing anything wrong, and they're just refusing to give you proper answers, I would just go ahead and find another exchange. Where are you from? Kraken could be a good alternative.

I think from what he meant about the exchange, he has passed kyc and all necessary documentation but he didn't read the aspect where the coinbase said no direct purchase from bank. But my questions is that after op knowing that coinbase doesn't permits a direct purchase from the bank why didn't he deposit through his electrum as he may have mentioned? Maybe it could be that he didn't get that part of the rules were coinbase said against that aspect, but sincerely he has to be blame of not reading ToS of coinbase before went ahead making direct purchase from bank.

Coinbase can be used for deposit and withdrawal of cash. I think that is the reason he wants to use Coinbase. If he was able to submit the document for the verification, maybe he should wait for Coinbase to verify it. But on all the exchanges that I have done this before, it took less than 5 minutes for the verification to either be successful or declined. Also he has not deposited from his Electrum wallet to Coinbase. He wants to sell his bitcoin to withdraw cash but he first wants to test it and see if it is working which led to the issue he is having. The issue of depositing cash first for testing.

If Coinbase is giving me pain instead of convenience, I'll move to another one. There are other exchanges that I can consider if ever this is happening to me. For as long as I haven't deposited yet, I can easily drop them and forget about the KYC process and let it stay there. So, if yo already have another choice, you better proceed on it anyway.

Many thanks for all the sensible replies. To reiterate, I have not deposited anything yet and I am simply trying to make a small deposit followed by a withdrawal to make sure everything works before I try transferring a small amount of my Bitcoin, selling it and then withdrawing the cash. I have completed 3/4 of the account steps including the verification process which has GREEN TICK against it. Step 4 is to fund your account and when I click on "deposit cash" I get the restricted message. They do not tell you why it is restricted and just refer you to the help pages. I have now managed to send an email to the contact@coinbase.com address, which has not bounced back or received an automatic response, so I will give it a few days and see if I get a reply. As a few people have advised, if Coinbase is beginning to be too much hassle, which it now is, I will probably forget them and use a different exchange. I am in the UK.

I see now, well I can't truly remember when I used that exchange apart from other exchanges such as Binance that was actually allowing us to make use of direct deposit and withdrawal. Though after some regulations issues weren't able too make use of the exchange for direct deposit but now using other exchange to sell & buy cryptocurrency through p2p service.

You're patient enough to wait them to simply reply to you. That's okay since you're the one who has said it but if that's the only email that you have reached out, there are other emails that they have as well, try the one that's specific for KYC. I've bold the part where it's specific so that you can also contact them with the other support and help to find the answer why it's not proceeding to step 4.

Now that you have successfully contacted support, just wait it out and see what their response will be, since you are done with the verification process, whatever is wrong might only be a small problem. Since you say you are in the U.K., there are other options if this one does not work out, Kraken is one of them and even Binance too.

That's odd, IMO. You should instantly receive an automated response indicating it has been queued, together with your case ID. Have you tried to fill out the form at https://help.coinbase.com/en/contact-usI am in the UK.
Perhaps it has to do with this. I've heard some locals are facing difficulties when transacting with fiat over exchanges.

I have just opened an account with Coinbase and completed all of the verification processes including the Coinbase quiz. By saying that you've "completed all of the verification processes", does that include the verification of your payment method? It's possible you might have passed all the initial verifications like name, address, ID, face match, and whatnot, but you have yet to pass verifications pertaining to your bank, card, PayPal, or whatever payment method you're using. You're depositing cash. The details of where the money is coming from should match with the rest of your account information.

Can anyone advise me how to proceed, or should I just forget Coinbase and try a different exchange? I am not interested in trading, I just want a simple way to transfer and start cashing in the Bitcoins I bought seven years ago and are in my Electrum wallet.
Check-in their tos if there are any restrictions for the region you come from. At some point they were quite restrictive, I stopped using them then. A recent check shows that my account is still active. However, if any restriction could complicate my access to my funds, I certainly prefer to choose another alternative, which I also advise you. Coinbase is not the only one, it is not even the best service in the domain in which it operates, you can certainly find better options.
