Various types of scams are now in use. From fake giveaway, fake exchange, ponzi scheme, personification blackmail and many more. Scammers are still coming up with new ways to defraud people out of their money. Based on my research, I believe scammers are primarily targeting newbies who they are new to the Cryptocurrency space and can be easily brainwashed and defrauded. However, I feel that the following recommendations, which I will describe below, will undoubtedly assist everyone, especially newbies, in protecting their wallet against theft.

Quote
1. DON'T TRUST ANYONE: In the crypto space, you don't have to trust anyone, even if you think you and the person have been doing business for a long time and you believe the person won't scam you. The person may be trying to earn your trust first, and then when you have a larger transaction with the person, he will run with your money. Before investing your money, make sure the website is standard and have a active social media with real and reasonable followers, and make sure you conduct a lot of research on your own to confirm the investment is legitimate.

2. ALWAYS PROTECT YOURSELF: When it comes to cryptocurrency, you must be cautious and always protect yourself; otherwise, scammers will take advantage of little opportunity to defraud you. For example, you may receive a link on your social media or email to claim an airdrop or other giveaway; do not even try to click the link; or some may ask you to follow someone on social media to be eligible for a giveaway; please avoid all of these things because I believe they are currently rampant and many people are being defrauded. You must exercise extreme caution even while opening the link sent to you by a friend; you cannot trust anyone, which is why you must safeguard yourself. Never give out personal information such as your private key, password your email login details or your mobile phone password, make sure you save your personal information in a secure place

3: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE GREEDY IN CRYPTOCURRENCY: I don't believe there is such a thing as "free money" in Cryptocurrency. Nobody will give you money unless you work for them. No reputable company will give you money unless you work for them. If someone sends you a message telling you to send a certain amount of money and they will double it for you in a few days or hours, realize that it is a total falsehood and that the person is just attempting to scam you. There are many methods to profit from cryptocurrencies, but you must put in a lot of effort.

4. BE VIGILANT: The way scammers plan their scams now, they modify everything and make it look very real, but it could be a scam, so you must be very vigilant. If anyone claims to have your personal information, ask for proof, and if he asks for money before he can send it, he is most likely a scammer. If you're sending money to any exchange or website, make sure you're on the right one. There are a lot of phishing websites out there that claim to be legitimate, so double-check the website before sending money there.

5: HOW TO SPOT A RIDICULOUS SCAM: There are a few basic things you may perform to determine whether or not someone is a scammer. To begin, check to see if there is a Twitter account listed on the website, and read through the comments. Trusted websites do not post reviews of themselves on their websites, nor do they post certificates as proof of their legitimacy. You can also use Google to learn more about a website.

I believe this post will definitely help, but there are still many more scams that you won't be able to detect with the following pathern. You simply need to be very careful and vigilant, as scammers work on a daily basis to deceive people. Make sure you report any scam activities you come across on Bitcointalk and other places as it will greatly benefit many people.

1. DON'T TRUST ANYONE
Don't trust anyone, verify instead. That's the only way to be safe from scammers. If there's huge money involved, it would definitely be better to pick an escrow and deal through. Make sure that the escrow is trusted & has dealt with a bigger amount.
OP, there are a lot of threads created on this particular topic I Guess. You would rather searched before started writing this.

There are too many ways to protect scammers but one thing that protects us most is our common sense.

Can I add some?
DON'T TRUST SWEET PROMISES, most people in social media offer us a sweet promise of return in our investment in just a couple of days, but the fact you have scammed. This was an experience of my friend personally, the same scenario like this when someone asked and offered a profitable investment. Upon depositing the money he just waited for a couple of weeks for the promised profit after a week, he tried to withdraw but there's a fee that almost half of the amount that he wanted to withdraw, without a sense that he was just on a scam, he deposited another amount of money just to withdraw the amount but suddenly, after depositing the site disappeared and boom....he just scammed and realized at the end.

This belongs to the DONT TRUST ANYONE or dont make a deal with anyone else on the internet especially if you don't know.
However, thank you for sharing this, a good thread to help newbies from being scammed.

If you been into telegram, there a lot of people there who will chat you when you show interest on such investment. They are literally leach who are gonna find a way to exploit or get your emotions to invest instead or let them process it for you. Some sort of sweet talks and once your in then it could be your worst day trusting strangers.

Don't you believe this area will become a garbage can if we keep creating already written posts for the purpose of new users? To be clear, each user understands why they came here: some came to study how bitcoin works, some wanted to learn more about a certain project before investing, and yet others are trolls who are bored at home. Are you implying that we'll have to make a thread about "how to avoid scam" for each new user who joins the forum? Instead of writing about it, I believe it would be better if you spent more time exposing them.

Don't trust anyone is an ok general rule, but that's not what the whole community should be about. That can be dialed in if we have better education of people that want to get into crypto, better education not just of the tech but about how scams are performed, how to spot them easily, and where to check (this forums scams section) to see a full list and patterns of scamers.

I also do believe that such reminders and threads are helpful for the newbies. But there's the reality that not all of them get to read reminders like this.
That's why some newbies are still falling for such scams because they're uneducated about such and lack of knowledge on how to determine and spot what a scam is like.

To protect yourself from any kind of scam, you must be well aware. Don’t reveal any sensitive information such as passwords or even the information as to how much crypto you own. No matter how good an offer someone is giving you, be wary of it. These scammers usually present unbelievably profitable deals to people in order to entice them. Just don’t believe anyone.

I believe scammers are primarily targeting newbies who they are new to the Cryptocurrency space and can be easily brainwashed and defrauded.

Almost anyone can fall victim to scammers online, scammers are in various categories, with some having developed very believable strategies that if caught off guard maybe as a result of an emotional state or a moment's carelessness, you can easily be swindled off your currency, crypto or fiat. A defence mechanism to develop is to always put at the back of your mind and consider yourself a target to both online and offline scammers, with such a consciousness developed, extra care on your part is sure to follow.

OP, what did you mean by giving us your link? Have you checked some text for plagiarism?
What I thought, since it is, is that you paraphrased your own post previously posted.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5363049.msg58053045#msg58053045
In my opinion, the subject is absolutely the same, only written in different words.
And yes, your link is invalid.

I'm in agreement with this and apparently, its likely to get non. Quoting or referencing such a bulk content in a way that, it makes 90% of OP is out of place for me. It doesn't show any form of creativity on your part @OP except that, you read and liked a piece of write up. Even if that which which in question on this one looks like your previous work. Moreover, the topic of the thread and its content could help in a way but, this information is an everyday own although, people still fall for scams that follow means for which the profound solutions above is supposed to remedy. Sad!
