I won't disagree with these users, as bad service from PayPal was one of the reason why I purchased cryptocurrency in the first place (in 2012). But right now, PayPal has accepted that cryptocurrency is one of the biggest innovations in finance. I am not saying that we should start supporting PayPal all of a sudden, but there is no point in fighting PayPal at this moment. PayPal may be doing this for their own benefit. But in the end, we are also benefiting from the increased exchange rates.

I agree. Overall, it is a net positive. I don't know why so many people here (in this forum) are angry with this news. Being a decentralized asset, Bitcoin is open to anyone. So no one can really say that PayPal should stay out of Bitcoin. If we do that then there will be hardly any difference between fiat currency and cryptocurrency. For my part, I have seen only positives ever since PayPal started integrating Bitcoin to its platform in 2020.

I totally agree with you guys! Think for yourself - the more major services open up such an opportunity as payments in cryptocurrency, the higher the demand for it will be in the future. Paypal is developing and exploring a stablecoin for their users. It reckon that this might become the first of releases of new KYC stablecoins that might be issued in the next 2 years. I change my prediction that the American goverment will deputize Tether, Circle and other centralized stablecoin issuers to control liquidity that comes in the cryptospace. It appears that it will still be the banks and old payment services similar to Paypal.




PayPal told Bloomberg the code was part of a hackathon and wouldn't necessarily be representative of the final version.

"We are exploring a stablecoin," Senior VP of Crypto and Digital Currencies Jose Fernandez da Ponte told Bloomberg. "If and when we seek to move forward, we will of course, work closely with relevant regulators."

Late news update.

Paypal is developing and exploring a stablecoin for their users. It reckon that this might become the first of releases of new KYC stablecoins that might be issued in the next 2 years.

PayPal is really taking a bold step venturing into these digital coins and am certain others will emulate them and make crypto much is to use. But the only downside I see with PayPal is these guys have not expanded these services to other countries which would be a game changer for many and make it easy for many people around the world to learn about crypto looking at how many people use their services.

@Woodie. Paypal stablecoins might only be available to America and their jurisdictions like Puerto Rico. I also speculate the American government will takedown stablecoins that they cannot control like Tether. I reckon once they have the stablecoin issuers compliant, they will begin to control that part of the cryptospace and control liquidity going in and out of the market. It might be something similar to the reforms that the government did to Wall Street during the great depression.

However, the government has a problem. Decentralized algorithmic stablecoins similar to Terra and Fraxshares hehehe.
