Tried *almost* everything ! Trezor, Ledger Nano, Ellipal Titan, Atomic Wallet, Exodus, Coinomi, you name it ! All of them are missing at least 3 or 4 of my tokens ! What's the point of taking your crypto off the centralized exchange if none of the private wallets support the damn things !?

I don't think I'm asking for much, the tokens are hold are hardly exotic or super low caps nobody's ever heard of. Here are some of them:

Terra Luna
Theta
Avalanche
Helium
Illuvium
Superfarm
Harmony ONE
Pancakeswap

And hoping to add soon:
Star Atlas
Monero
Gala
Efinity
HEX

2 Ethereum for whoever finds me a wallet that works. Kidding ! But give it another 6 months, I might consider it !

May I know, for all the tokens you mentioned, which wallet are you currently in?

What do you mean by support here? Those wallet is not showing your token balance in your apps? If that is the case they it is pretty normal for new coin. You can add your coin manually in those platform. Just copy your token contract address form coinmarketcap or coingeko and then import your token manually from the settings. You can use metamask for that because it is one of the most secure and easiest platform to manage crypto.

My centralized exchange's default wallet. It's a terrible option, but I can't find anything else !

In a private wallet like Exodus or a hardware wallet like Trezor, you can only hold the tokens that they support. ie. if you want to put Illuvium tokens there, and they don't support that token, then you will not be able to move your Illuvium tokens from the centralized exchange to your private wallet.

Regarding Metamask, some say it only support Ethereum based tokens ? I'm keen to use MetaMask, but I've also heard horror stories about YouTubers who got hacked using MetaMask, one of them lost almost everything ! ( I think they were staking ) So with MetaMask the risk of getting hacked seems too high !

Examples of MetaMask users getting hacked:

I could of course use 7 different private wallets for different tokens ( as none of them offer full support ),
but imagine keeping track of all those seedphrases and passwords ! Guaranteed to lose some in the process !! And I think history has taught us that most people that lost their Bitcoin lost it because they forgot the seedphrase or password, or they forgot where they put it and locked themselves out of their account !

Metamask supports everything based on ETH.
You can add Binance Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Moonriver, Fantom and other chains etc. etc.

I think they got hacked because of some shady smart contracts they accepted!
If you wanna use your tokens on any sites for staking, swapping, farming, liquidity providing and so on you have to accept to give permission to smart contracts... so better do a quick research before giving permissions to dApps!!

So if I don't do any yield farming, staking, etc. and just keep my tokens in the MetaMask Wallet, there's no risk of my wallet getting hacked ??

Only if someone hacks you computer and gets into your Metamask or retrieves your private key via scam/phishing..

I use Metamask for over 3 years and deposited my tokens to hundreds of sites/dApps, many of them very new and not well known. Never got a problem until now.
But for most safety it's the best to avoid any smart contracts and all the DeFi or NFT minting stuff Wink

Without a doubt this is a problem, however you are not the only one, this is something that people had to deal with especially at the beginning stages of this market as each altcoin had their own wallet and you needed to have as many wallets as you had coins, now with wallets that support multiple coins this is not as much of a problem so your only options are to keep your coins at the exchange or use the wallet developed by the creators of your coins, now if some of the coins you are holding get popular enough eventually Trezor, ledger and other wallets will offer support for them.

Metamask is safe as long as you can secure your amount and privatekey safely. I have been using this for years. The risk will always there even when you're using privatewallet and it doesn't mean your money was in the safe place. There's no risk to lose your money if you are not doing something wrong that in result your privatekey gets leaked.
Majority of smartcontract hodler are using metamask but you can try to use another hardware wallet like safepal if you want.
Holding your money in centralized exchange site was also a very risky decision for sure.

It doesn't have the same security features as other wallets but the risks rests solely on the users. These people complaining about hacking have allowed their wallet to be compromised in the first place by connecting it to fake sites. They have the option to decline any transaction before it pushes through but they do not read the warnings.

Have a separate Metamask wallet for storage only and another for connecting to trading or gaming sites.

You have no choice but to adopt the reality that there are wallets that are compatible with those cryptos that you've mentioned and there are some of them that don't. You're the one that should adjust and I know the hassle that you'll be getting for putting them in many wallets but that's it. You should haven't diversified that much when you've understood that there's too much wallet that you need to own because of the number of altcoins you hold.

Gathering all your assets under a single wallet is already a risky situation. My suggestion is to keep it piecemeal. But I suggest you to use cold wallet and ledger. The most important point is that you do not use the devices you use for the portfolio of your assets in different systems. If you apply this, you will also prevent any attack and hacking situations. I've been using metamask for years and not once have I faced any attack or loss of assets. The important point is to protect your keys and various documents nicely.
