If new mining software still supports old GPUs like 6970 and 7970s I wonder how they will perform with ergo and Alph coin mining, it's such a shame that this beasts are not given any new opportunities anymore

It's not a shame, to support old GPUs devs have to work and put time and efforts to miner work with old gpus.

I don't have numbers, but old GPUs before RX Polaris and Nvidia series 1XXX must be minimum, and doesn't worth to support anymore, can you imagine to work hard to support these gpus, and only a few miners still have one of these?

Do you still have 6970 and 7970?
I'd love to see, post some pictures here
And these cards still have some value

The 7970 could have sorta mine a lot and I mean a lot in cryptocurrency for a month at 2013/2014,I don't remember correctly if Bitcoin was possible to be mined with GPU-s back in 2013 but I remember these to be the top of all graphic cards for mining at that time. Now of course we are some years later and new generation have spawn up and we all love them. The reason they are not supported anymore is because miner software developers asks for a fee and very few people have such cards right now, they want to get more and more fees by people who have RTX 3XXX series and RX Navi and Big Navi which are our latest generation cards and everybody who mines has some of them.

The 7970 was a great graphics card for mining, but there are very few of them left in working order and these cards have very high power consumption to make mining profitable. In terms of mining performance, these video cards will lose even RX 470.

There is no reason keeping such GPUs at hand doing nothing this days, they can't even run today's games very well on PC, yea they used to be beast on their own back then but everything have changed, the only GPU that can still live longer for crypto mining is rx580s which are better than those 7970s of yours sorry.
