As far as I know, not necessarily when solely connecting MetaMask to a platform. In the end it will still mostly depend if you know which wallet transactions you're actually approving yourself.

Correct. When opening the account with OpenSea, you will have bunch of options to login with. There will different wallets to choose from so you can have the preferred one which you think is suitable to you or you use regularly.

Lets take an example of MetaMask. This is usually in your chrome browsers extension so very handy to use. Whenever you will link your OpenSea account with the MetaMask then you will have to sign the message which you initially used. Generally this process takes place automatically if your wallet is logged in and account is linked to the proper chain.

If everything is fine then you will be taken in. There is no possible way anyone can hack your account before hacking your keys, passwords to the MetaMask.

My recommendation would be to use a Ledger hardware wallet with Metamask and never leave your coins/tokens in a hot wallet on Metamask in your browser. Metamask supports Ledger through the connect hardware wallet. When you buy your NFTs have them stored therefore on your Ledger wallet address. The next recommendation I would make is to not connect wallets to Metamask that has a lot of coins/tokens in it, only put in there enough to do whatever you want to do. For general use connect an interim account to Metamask and not your main accounts and transfer from your main account to your Metamask account and then do the transaction. These are compensating controls for in case something goes wrong with Metamask.

I think they cannot access your wallet they only allow you to have an account with your wallet that is what they said. But after visiting the site you check that you are on their official real link, check the spellings of the link so that you do not enter on any other fake website.
Other point is that do not enter your metamask details on any website as while opening/connecting to any website you will need to give password or key only on the metmask extension but at that point you have to check before that your PC/device is safe from any virus as there are some viruses which can monitor your keyboard and can copy what you type.

It all depend on you, you always need to keep your device safe from any attack. Plus do not click on any link or linked word, if there is a linked word sent to you then right click and choose "Copy link address" and then paste it somewhere to check that which link is there. If you do not recognize the link then remove it and do not visit there as it may be from hackers.

There might be risk but it can be manageable especially if you know how to protect your wallet. Connecting your wallet into a site is not that risky especially in Opensea, just don’t share your seed phrase, don’t download anything and you can be good. Metamask is one of a good wallet you can use in this market.

I've been connecting my metamask to the opensea so many times and i never encounter any problem. As long as the site already proven its credibility and it's safe to connect your metamask to the opensea. You may need to remember that never try to join in any suspicious site. Opensea is the biggst NFT market and the team will not try to destroy it. It's crazy if opensea was doing a shady thing like that.
They will never care with your money. Opensea itself already funded and it has a very big income from the NFT sellers on its market.
Why should you feel worry about that?
