Question 1: Editing profile signature - how to?
Answer: Member rank +10 required for signature links

I have added bb code signature but readers cannot click the signature and visit my url.

I think you need to be a member now to be able to post URLs.

Otherwise it'll just be:

You're not allowed to put links as a signature. You need to rank up to the member rank for that, which requires 10 merits.

As I've been part of this forum for a few years, I'd like to share something with my limited experience here (by the way, I'm not an expert), but I believe this advice can help you

I believe that you have a great interest to ranking up here on the forum, but for that to happen you will have to have the necessary number of merits and activity.

But that's no secret, try to be more participatory and active in the forum, produce quality content, share your knowledge and help other users!

Following what I said, your chances of standing out in this forum will increase, you will be able to earn several merits, ranking up, insert a signature on your profile and even participate in some campaigns that exist here on the forum!

It's simply an indirect strategy to promote a cryptocurrency-related project on bitcointalk by wearing a bbcode banner/design under your profile and participating in forum discussions in exchange for bitcoin or some other useless token which has no value.

In the past, signature campaigns were one of the reasons the forum became clogged with nonsense that added nothing to the discussion. And because these people can't contribute anything useful to the community, they ended up spamming the forum to meet their quota and be paid.

are we free to apply any signature? is it profitable?

You can freely apply as long as you met their requirements of having Sr.Member rank above and that you have received 5-10 merits in the last 120 days.

Signatures are like unique characteristics of an account, same as personal text and avatar space. They are being used more often for paid advertising these days, as it is a great way to market a company or business to other forum members.

In time past avatars could be animated and signatures contained images, but with the rise of advertising and all, it made the forum look quite clogged and had to be disabled. You might still see some members with animated avatars, and that's cause they've not changed their avatars since the change was implemented.

• It is only profitable when used to market your business or for paid advertising through signature campaigns on the forum.

means the applied signature is an advertisement that pays each user who applies the signature itself. maybe I'll be interested in the future. and will try it when i have time and when i rank up.

I was initially surprised that every user's comments were always followed by images or ad posts such as site links and the like. and I thought it was a forum ad. but that is what is called a signature and we are free to edit it, does that mean?

Yes. You can put your own links (maybe to your blog or your own service), or you can receive payments from advertisers (hence signature campaigns) in exchange for them putting their site/service onto your signature.

ok thanks buddy for the explanation. so in this forum you can also make a profit by placing a signature containing ads belonging to other people who are promoting their site or product. this is very interesting.
maybe I'll try it someday if I can focus more on this forum.

If you are accepted in a signature campaign, you might need to ask for permission either from the campaign manager or the owner to modify the BBCode by yourself. However, do note that modifying the signature, as far as I know, is limited only to adding your referral link if the product you are advertising has an affiliation program.

To add to what everyone else have said, your signature space is a space that you can either use to advertise your goods or services, or you can choose to sell your signature space to someone else who wish to use it to advertise his or come product, goods or services, you can get payment on a weekly, monthly, or on a set period of time bases, depending on the type of person or company you sell your signature ad space to.
But it's also worth knowing that there are rules you must obey if you choose to sell your signature ad space to other people, not obeying this rules will lead to automatic forfeiture of your payment for that week or month, and if you disobey the rule multiple times, you can be removed from that payers payroll.
I believe as you advance and start using your signature ad space, you will know all that you need to know.

Yes, we all are free to apply any signature, but it is important to know that your forum rank plays a huge role on the type of signature you can apply, there are different signature codes for different ranks, so please take note.

is it profitable?

Depends on how you use it.

You can use your signature ad space for your own personal use, that is to advertise your own business, and this I consider profitable because more people get to know about your business and possibly patronize you.

But if you are selling your signature ad space to other businesses, then you have to know that there are procedures which you must follow to make the act profitable, this procedure are listed below..

• You must submit an application to the campaign manager of that business stating your interest in joining their signature campaign, depending on the rule of the campaign, you might be required to wear the signature and apply or otherwise.
• You must be accepted, you must be sure you are accepted into the campaign before you start working/posting while wearing that signature, otherwise, your wearing the signature will be unprofitable for you.
• You must obey the rules, and the most common of those rules is the one that tells you the number of posts you must make in a week, and those posts must meet the managers standards of what a quality post is, not meeting or obeying this rule and other rules listed in the signature campaign thread will also make your wearing the signature unprofitable.. So please take note

I don't know what you mean by ID rank, but if you're referring to rank on this forum, activities in signature campaigns does not affect it.
Your rank is dependent on merits and activity points, both of which depends on how much you post and the overall quality of the content you put out.

Striving to join a campaign actually can reduce the quality of ones post and lead to spam.

It isn't always the case. Especially if you're not in a campaign that pays decently and if you have a business/service that you can promote, it's possible to earn more by promoting your own shtick.
