It seems to me that dents are not related to amateurism. This is a common occurrence after opening any modern device that is assembled in such a way that it can't be damaged.
Thank you, but still, if I had the chance to fix another hardware wallet (I hope not), specifically Nano S again, I am certain that I can do a much better job than this
Your unfortunate incident with a broken hardware wallet allowed you to gain additional experience and I am sure that this topic and your tips on replacing the display will be useful to others. Great job, Maus0728.
This is true! Yesterday was a blast and I've had the chance to experience fixing a hardware wallet that packs a lot of learnings, and I am grateful for that.
You must have tried tightening the metal clasp harder, right? Didn't it fix it?
You could try pressing harder on metal part making distance between two metal edges smaller, that should make rotating a bit harder.
No.I tried pinching it but it doesn't work. But that's no biggie, though.
I guess you could use it even without this metal, but more protection for both screen and weak plastic case.
Yes,but I don't the like the looks of it being naked. The casing is transparent and, personally without the metal clasp, the looks isn't aesthetic
Can you compare the cost and shipping time (if you ordered it online) versus buying a new device?
Purchasing the OLED screen overseas is a lot cheaper. As far as I can remember, I bought my Ledger during sale for about $50 while the OLED screen from Alibaba cost me for about $15 including the shipping fee. Yes, the shipping fee is more expensive than the product.
As for shipping time, I waited for almost 2 weeks before the screen arrived at my doorstep while the Ledger, during the early days of pandemic took me for almost 1 month of waiting time.
Nice work. Too bad you didn't show how you reassembled the case back together after replacing the faulty display.
Actually I've tried, but I stopped when I realized that It took me 1.5 hrs just to re-assemble the hardware. Personally, this is the most difficult part than disassembling it.
