Bitcoin ATMs with no PhotoID in Australia

Bitcoin ATMs all seem to require photo identification in Australia. Is that the case? Are there any that don't for the privacy freaks out there?

Would anyone have a solution as how to use Bitcoin ATM in Australia without PhotoID?

Have you checked any other service provider in your vicinity that doesn't require KYC? You can use coinatmradar^[1] for that. But I 'd bet that most of the ATM in Australia would required KYC maybe due to your country's crypto regulation.

Alternatively, you can buy bitcoin with P2P exchanges without KYC.

The best thing to do is to click through the ATMs at the location of your choice and look at the individual KYC requirements. These are listed on CoinATMRadar, see here:

There might be some ATMs without any requirements. Just check the list and you might find some.

Wow....that's not that many compared to the US, and I'm kind of surprised there aren't more than that.

As to OP's question, I've visited a few BTCATMs around where I live (they seem to be everywhere nowadays), and I'm pretty sure all of them have a camera pointing at you.  Even if its function is to scan an address's QR code, you'd have to assume that it's also taking a picture of you as well unless you know otherwise.  There was one I used that required a picture ID, but the rest of them didn't. 

The whole BTCATM scene is kind of a grey area right now, at least as far as I can tell, and whether a certain machine will require KYC docs basically depends on who the operator is--and there are many of them.

Another thing to consider is how much CCTVs are covering you on your way. For starters, wearing something to make your face harder to recognize would be a good idea e.g. face mask, cap, etc.

I don't think Bitcoin ATM's are the best option for privacy if you want to exchange Bitcoin for fiat currencies, cameras are recording everything so they probably know your identity.
I am not sure what locations are not asking for kyc verifications in Australia, so you would have to go and manually verify yourself because rules can change quickly.
Best option for me is using decentralized exchanges like Bisq or p2p trading websites like LocalCryptos.

It also only has a population of 26 million so there is that aspect too.

More and more you are not going to be able to have a non photo ID transaction with a BATM, because more and more those ATMs that don't require it just don't exist anymore.
It's a back end setting for some that can be disabled or enabled at the operators discretion.
But... think about it from the operators point of view: BATMs tend to have bad rates for the customer so it's a good profit center for the operator. More and more regulators want ID / KYC for these things. Why upset the regulators? Yes, you might loose a few customers, but dealing with issues or loosing the ability to operate the machines will cost you more.

Not saying it's good just that it is.....

Sadly, you can't buy Bitcoin in Bisq unless you already have some BTC to use as security deposit for making a trade with other person.
Maybe you can try buying your first BTC in bitcointalk forum using some trusted escrow, than send this Bitcoin in Bisq and use it as deposit.
Moving Bitcoin to other addresses won't improve your privacy much, but address management is always a goo idea.

At least this is not difficult or suspicious considering that at least in Australia people were literally caught on the streets because they did not have masks - although I would say that those who value their privacy should not use a crypto ATM, not only because of the possible KYC, but also because bad people can monitor such devices for potential victims.

Will they then intercept you on the street and ask you to hand over your smartphone, or will they follow you to your house/apartment and plan a burglary/physical attack or something else (blackmail) remains a question that everyone should ask themselves.

Welcome to regulations, OP! Think the last time I ever saw no-verification ATMs in EU was pre Covid (2020ish). They even used to have daily sell limits of 10k euros (without verification).

I did manage to buy some BTC in ONE ATM in March this year though, just to try. Only 20 euros just for fun, and it didn't ask for ID, not sure if that was a limit threshold or because the ATM was a private access one.

As Pharmacist points out, though, one must assume the camera is filming you.

One other thought for semi-anonymous purchases is a local BTC group.
There are a lot of small groups out there that even if they don't have regular meetings do meet enough that if you are not in a rush you can probably find someone to buy from for cash.

Not anonymous since it is F2F but it's a thought.
