Hello good morning,

This is my first post but have posted also in this forum's bitcoin miners and am not sure I get a reply there so I thought it's better to post over here in the section bitcoin support.
I am in need of help with an unconfirmed transaction which has been stuck since 14th November. My problem is because my web wallet(blockchain.com) automatically set my fee too low and has been unconfirmed since. Usually the fee is adjusted automatically, depending on the amount of transaction and has always worked. Took a couple of hours and everything was fine. This time however, the fee was way too low and unfortunately noticed it after sending the funds.
Please understand that I am not an expert on bitcoin. Although I like the simplicity of the wallet, I am not familiar with certain procedures and terminologies

Was looking through this forum and came across the bitcoin support sticky. Tried contacting quickseller  and macbook-air but considering I am a newbie, I am not sure that I 'd get any reply.
Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. I will send the link for better clarification.

Thanks a lot.

Be using a good wallet like Electrum that support replace-by-fee by default, only what you should have just done is to pump the fee if you do not mark/check the transaction as final.

If you can wait, do not panic if you are sending to yourself, the coin is safe and it will later be confirmed. The mempool is congested for now but you can wait.

If you can not wait, you can use child-pay-for-parent for it. Assuming you are the owner of the coin, import the seed phrase on Electrum, you will see an unconfirmed transaction, you can spend the unconfirmed transaction, move part of the unconfirmed coin or the unconfirmed coin to a new address that you own on the wallet, which means you used part of the UTXO of the unconfirmed transaction. Read further.

The mempool is 25 sat/vbyte now. You used 3.965 sat/vByte for your transaction. In CPFP, it is like you are paying for two transactions, use 46 sat/vbyte for the second transaction. Both transaction would be confirmed early.

If you are not the owner of the coin (the coin you sent), you can advice the person that owns it to do it like that, or if the transaction has unspent UTXO as change on your wallet, use it for the second transaction with high fee, sending it to another address that you own.

Unfortunately, with a 4sat/vB tx fee, it's highly unlikely that it'll get confirmed within the next hour or so.
And no one can predict the future so it's hard to give an ETA to when it'll get mined, the good news is, mempools have been steadily decreasing in size these past few days.
It'll eventually get mined; if it's not a rush transaction, just wait it out.

One way to accelerate it is to perform a CPFP transaction with high fee.
But since Blockchain online wallet doesn't have such feature, you'll have to manually create a transaction that'll spend the change of that unconfirmed transaction.
Sadly, it doesn't have a coin-control feature so it might select a different input if you have other than that change.

Usually the fee is adjusted automatically, depending on the amount of transaction and has always worked.
This is wrong.
The amount of fee required to be paid for a transaction has nothing to do with the amount of bitcoin you send.
The transaction fee depends on number of inputs and outputs, your address(es) type, the network state and how fast you want your transaction to be confirmed.

It's impossible to say when your transaction will be confirmed, but I expect it to be confirmed in the weekends.

Thank you all for your replies so far....and suggestions.

Not sure if I can wait it out any longer as it has been 3 days since and considering the very low fee, I am not sure if it ever gets confirmed.

Since I am a newbie to all this, I am 'afraid' to tinker with features like sending to another address I own, CPFP etc..I am more looking for a bitcoin miner like the sticky in this forum suggested and actually have it confirmed through a miner if this is possible.

What happens to the funds if the transaction stays unconfirmed and is eventually dropped from the mempool? Will the funds be lost?

As you are the owner, I mean you send the coin to your another address? You are totally fine. I had one in the past that took over 1 month. But if it is from someone, do not accept unconfirmed transaction, especially when the mempool is congested like this because the transaction can be dropped and be spent again to another address.

No, you'll be able to spend it again after getting dropped.

Note: it depends on the mempool of the node where your client is connected to; in case of Blockchain wallet, it depends if it's dropped from their nodes.
Also, the process depends on the client, some keep a local copy of the dropped transaction that requires manual deletion of the local copy but some are automatic.

But the key point is, you'll be able to spend it once it's dropped (approx 14days after it got received by the node), be it with intervention or none.
It rarely happens anyways.

Not sure if I can wait it out any longer as it has been 3 days since and considering the very low fee, I am not sure if it ever gets confirmed.

It will most probably get confirmed in the next 4 days. No need to freak out.
As said, your fee is so low the free accelerators will not handle your transaction.

Since I am a newbie to all this, I am 'afraid' to tinker with features like sending to another address I own, CPFP etc..

The only real chance for "accelerating" is that you send to yourself the funds from bc1q4c3llfzdqs97saf5kzqr28fjjq9zshhq4tu0xy or bc1q385fvgf0mka42y7k0a66tjj55k0wl0kd9fxkkl, whichever is yours.
It may need a bit of research to spend unconfirmed coins (and I use Electrum, I don't know how this is done with blockchain.com), so it's up to you: learn to act or learn patience.

I am more looking for a bitcoin miner like the sticky in this forum suggested and actually have it confirmed through a miner if this is possible.

Since it's not a life-or-death situation, I don't see a good reason a miner would give up a transaction with better fees to handle yours, but you can hope...

What happens to the funds if the transaction stays unconfirmed and is eventually dropped from the mempool? Will the funds be lost?

They will returned to your wallet, like the transaction never happened. Of course, the wallet may or may not know how to handle that, but you can always go for a smarter wallet if it's needed.
Again, stop worrying for no good reason.

If you worry about this, and you *really* need the transaction to go trough without learning the inner workings, you can always just save the raw tx in a notepad somewhere and manually rebroadcast it from time to time...

We're talking about transaction 34556a0c6703676c6ff79e09a367b9c4e35b4cdb9670691bfdf8bd3f6bfc0def

This is the raw transaction:
Code:
0200000000010100321668bdd6a19573b57847c32c8cff060691ba7ada5af32ec1faefdf48f2aa0000000000ffffffff0217e4000000000000160014ae23ffa44d040be87534b080351d32900a285ee0e04d18000000000016001489e896212fddbb5513d67f75a5ca54a59eefbecd0248304502210086a90bc0640af10387d41e8b718f61314342a9e1a0ba025cb50926bbd1e9f912022001d95aa126489e5bab3b5a3118f487aaceb7ad347ef37b9ee6ee5732f71a373e012102c0260a49b01c7d1f0d30dc55733377434f53669a497866713e21257e449fdf4e00000000

IF most nodes pruned your transaction from their mempool, and you visit a site like this one: https://blockchair.com/broadcast and copy/paste above raw tx, it'll be rebroadcasted and it'll go back into the mempool of a lot of nodes... Don't do this if you WANT the network nodes to forget about your transaction tough!

I am not sure if it ever gets confirmed.
The mempool is becoming less crowded and as mentioned by NeuroticFish, your transaction will be probably confirmed.
Two days ago, there were around 150 vMB of transactions in the mempool and now the mempool size has decreased to around 60 vMB.
It's very unlikely that your transaction remains unconfirmed and dropped from mempool of nodes.

You can use https://mempool.space to be checking the mempool, you used 3.965 sat/vByte for the transaction, that would be when it will be confirmed when the mempool becomes less congested to that level. Most probably it would be confirmed during weekend, but not totally guaranteed. Mempool are less congested during weekends.

This time the condition of the mempool does not depend on the weekend, because the problem is that one large CEX is doing some kind of consolidation and is causing this problem. The current situation is about 30 000 unconfirmed transactions, and the area where the OP transaction is located occupies the largest part with 29 000+ transactions that are in the range of 1-14 sat/vB.

You are right. But I still expect OP's transaction to be confirmed in the coming weekends. Of course as you truly said, not because the network is usually less congested in the weekends, but because all binance consolidation transaction will be probably confirmed in the next 2 or 3 days and the network state will be normal again.

I am in need of help with an unconfirmed transaction which has been stuck since 14th November. My problem is because my web wallet(blockchain.com) automatically set my fee too low and has been unconfirmed since.

On November 14, somebody published a huge number of transactions (150 MvB, according to mempool.space) at 12-15 sat/vb. At the time, your fee of 4 sats/vb was reasonable until those transactions were published. It has taken many days for those transactions to be confirmed, but the good news that they are now confirmed and fees have dropped.

At the time of this reply, your transaction has been confirmed.

People worry too much if they don't see a quick confirmation and start to panic for no reason. Your bitcoins won't just magically disappear and end up in a hole with no bottom. That's especially the case if you are sending coins to yourself from Wallet A to Wallet B, and/or you don't need the funds urgently. Just let the mempools empty out and go about your everyday business.

The thing you should focus on OP is getting rid of that horrible and awfully created online wallet and get a good and functional one like Electrum, for example. If you had used a wallet with advanced coin control features, you could have taken advantage of its RBF or CPFP option and there would be no need for this thread. It's never too late to better yourself though.

Agreed. Lesson learned. Thanks for your suggestion.
