It seems to me mining is not profitable by itself anymore. If during ETH era, it could bring 20$ per day, not it's not more than $6

Mining now is not profitable on video cards and FPGAS. Moreover, on FPGAS mining, everything is very bad with payback. Asics are a completely different topic and profit, but this is certainly not a business for home miners with small power consumption limits. Let's wait until the Bitcoin halving, perhaps there will be a demand for mining other coins and on video cards.
