Ideally, you can set up and run your masternode with VPS. You buy VPS and set up your masternode operation on it.

There are services for masternodes that they set up everything for you and run it for you. You just sit back and receive staking or masternode passive rewards but you don't know when they will shut down their services or do scam exits.
