Delete Someone Unused UID Number/Address in Your Exchange Addree Book'

It is not good to keep someone UID Number or bitcoin Address in your Bybit account, mostly for those who sell coins to local vendors. Some people send coins to vendors through UID or Address which is already saved in the exchange address book and what they do is to go straight to the address book and click the UID number or the saved address and send the coins. IF YOU MISTAKENLY click another person UID number or address on the list and send the coin and you don't know the person. Then your coins are gone. This is an avoidable mistake. When you withdraw coins in Bybit the receiver's UID/Address automatically saved.

Just like what happened to me recently. I bought something online through Social Media Platform and I paid the person with bitcoin and paid through the UID address, after that purchased some weeks later, I was about sending coins to someone which the address (UID) was also saved in the address book of the bybit, and I distantly clicked on the guy whom I bought the thing, but I cross examined the uid number and it was not the particular one I wanted to send the coins to so I had to manually typed the number/address before I sent the coin.

after that day I have been looking for a way to delete/remove all the address which I don't know the owners from the address book list and finally I got it. And I decided to share it here so others can also learn and avoid the mistake. You might sent coins to address unknowingly /mistakenly and you will lost the coins if you don't know the person.

Follow the Steps to Delete/Remove the UID/Address

For PC.
Click on Assets on the up right hand side.


Click on Withdraw and click on Add.

And you will see all the addresses there and you click on delete on the address you want to remove.


And a box will pop up click confirm.


For now it is Bybit and it works in pc.

What I know is that if I have addresses saved or not, or the exchanges saved it or not, all I will still prefer to do is to copy the address the user sent me and paste it where I want to withdraw the money. This is very important. People that fall for addresses poisoning are making similar mistake of not copying/pasting address.

When the addresses or UIDs are saved, isn't there an option to name it, like in a contact list? I think that is something you can suggest to bybit to rectify or improve on in the next updates. Either way, I don't like that option of saving addresses.

Firstly, address reuse isn't good for privacy and security reasons
Secondly, exchanges or other services change addresses sporadically. Depositing funds in an old address my lead to incontinences.

Saving an address is for convenience, but it doesn't mean you won't double or triple check the details. What you did remains a must regardless if you manually put the address or use one from the saved list. Although transactions within centralized exchanges could be reversed, this  standard practice to triple check details is one lesson that Bitcoin's irreversibility teaches us.

Also, an address should only be saved if you're going to use it over and over again. Normally, it's also your address. If it's just a transaction which might not be repeated in the near future, I think the address shouldn't be saved.

You can add a remark to it but it is optional. The thing is when you want to withdraw and you input the address that you are withdrawing to, Bybit will show where you can check (mark) for the address not to require verification next time, automatically no remark will be there.

Yes, but when it comes to altcoins, the wallets are showing just a single address.

Saving an address is for convenience, but it doesn't mean you won't double or triple check the details.

The best option is even copying the receiving address at anytime we want to send coins to that address, because cross checking is not a guarantee method. It is better we delete them and copy and paste whenever we need them to avoid any mistake. According to a phrase, prevention is better than cure. Or if I would have known. This thread is just like an early warning which we need to take precautions.

Yess, there should be an option to add a label to each contact in the address book. The contact maybe a crypto address, an email address, or a UID number. I noticed this in both binance and Okx although i didn't use them for a longtime so i can't tell if this feature still available. The only one time i used this feature is to save only one address i used to sent to for daily small transactions. I prefered not to save more than one address to avoid ambiguities. Instead i made sure to paste the same address i copied directly from the sender. This is much more safer than to trust my mind reflexion which may get wrong at any time.
