I saw in a news that the governor of Niger State Mohammed Bago, signed a multi- million deal with a foreign company called the Reinke, a global irrigation company, that would help boost Agriculture in Niger State and Nigeria at large large. This has caused citizens of the Niger state to rain praises on him, saying he's the best governor so far and they've finally got a deserving leader. Also, before now bago had promised to work the extra mile to collectively build a better future for the citizens of the State upon his assumption of duty as their governor, which he's currently trying to achieve. This is the real deal, this is the kind of leadership Nigerians are demanding and i think others should emulate from this instead of coming into power to loot states treasury.
Also there are other good leaders for instance, Alex oti, the Governor of Abia State who's currently transforming the state from bad to being better, Abia state which was formely know for bad roads, poor electricity, and dirty environment is gradually being transformed by Governor Alex, he's currently building good roads and recently commissioned a geometric power plant in osisioma, of which major cities in Abia are now benefiting from the constant power supply.
There are several other good leaders with good intension to help change the country by bringing developments and boost our economy, but we all know that our country is filled with  more corrupt and bad leaders than good ones. Well we've seen the benefits of having good leaders in our government and i think if more good leaders, would  emerge in every arms of our government, from the judiciary down to the legislators, then there would be change and our economy would gradually get better, cause by then politicians would begin to give account of looted funds and countries treasury and not go scott free afterwards. Change they say begins with everyone but when the head is bad, the whole body gets bad as well, therefore if more good and better leaders emerge in various areas of our government then there would be change and it would help boost our economy.

Something about economic growth is that every government who want to drive the growth of it's economy to be competitive must first and foremost create an enabling environment that is insecurity free and conducive for both local and foreign investment to thrive. The insecurities and the economic downturn the Nigeria economy is facing today is as a result of the lack of the deliverables of social welfares and amenities, as it has always been so much promises with nothing to show off, at different levels of government it has always been more of politics than good governance  and over the years it has constantly reverberate negatively on the country's economy.

I think if in every general elections we are a concerned citizens can be able to deliver on our mandate to vote in good leadership's in all level's of the government no matter how little the number might be in each election's we can gradually have the good taking over the corrupt politicians which will immensely affect our economic growth based on their good leadership policies and programmes just as we can see in some of the states like Abia, Rivers, and the Niger Op made mentioned of.

In the midst of the bunch of bad leaders we have at the different tiers of our governance, we still have lots of good ones that are bringing great projects to the constituencies they are representing. It's just that the bad ones are too many and it's almost becoming deficult to see the good of the minority and some of the minority that are even doing well are just carrying out those project just to get public applaud after which they steal huge public funds without being noticed at all.

From my own end, my LGA boss has brought in great project to the LGA within two years in office that we've never seen for the past ten years of previous administration. It's more of the kind of mindset the leaders have towards their people. There are people that project driven in nature and can't occupy an office without a practical  project being seen and this is one thing that's common with our leaders; each of them has what they see  as the needs of their state and once they come into office, all their attention is solely fucosed on doing it and as long as they've done it, they don't feel bothered about shit again.

You look at someone like WIKe, he is an infrastrural driven person and as long as he is able to build bridges, fly over and schools, he his okay with it. Even before he became the governor and was in charge of the state education, he was still after infrastructure and that led him to build the ultra modern secondary school for all the LGA and community in the state. He's gone to the fct now and the majority of his project is still geared towards infrastrural development. Some others are geared towards education, health and so on and I personally feel that if while facing a particular sector, they torch other sectors also, it would go a long way in bringing an all round development in the country.

Their is a saying in our pigin ;  nothing for this  life, dy hide for ever. so nothing in us can be hidden for ever,  just like content, it can never hide when a leader is filled with it.

In this life, we can only give what we have and not what we don't have, most of this our leaders have no content, they have nothing to offer when in office and they wouldn't give way for those that have, it's only in Nigeria we make prayers for things government should be providing, just take a look at this current federal government, they actually don't have anything to offer to this country, instead they are making things much more difficult by fighting people they shouldn't have, till we have a leader that have content and knows what is governance, that's when we are going to know the importance of good governance.

Our leaders have all it takes to make this country to be better but they never have good intentions for good governance.  Their is nothing hard for our leaders to bring good governance but to them it seems very difficult because their plan is to gain power to steal goverment money.  Nothing is difficult,  we have resources where money is been generated,  we don't need to go our to borrow money for projects just like other countries bit even with our resources nothing can be done.

This is the reason why I have said it time without number that what we need in the country is state autonomy and resource control because if every state can control every activity that is happening within the states then everyone will not be affected at once because if one state is suffering, then the other states will be rejoicing because things can't just go wrong for all the states at once.

If all the state control what they produce, it will bring governance closer to the people and will surely bring about growth and development rather than depending on the federal government before any decisions is taken.

Instead of agitating for Nigeria to disintegrate, let us try this resource control and see how it goes because at this point of our economy, if we rely too much on the federal government then the country might collapse entirely so the development of those governors is indeed a welcome achievement for those states and nothing makes a government become more successful than when the citizens are raining praises and prayers for such government as a result of the good governance they are bringing closer to the people, it helps the state grow and develop rapidly.

You've said it all Op. A government that doesn't think or plan goodwills for their societies would never bring in good and creditable developments Instead they develops strategical developments strickly on how to enrich themselves.
This is just why our federal government is frustrating Crypto investors and the forex traders.
Imagine a government asking an exchange wallet platform which the masses are massively endorsed for their assets tradings to pay a bill of $10 billion, at what cause precisely if not for the sentiment that they being the government needed their own shares from the industries since they can't control the technology such especially as the cryptocurrencies.
A government that's always after sharing the national cakes has no good long run to keep their citizens in a well being and suitable conditions.
Our Nigeria governing system is corrupted if not the above mentioned cheerful developments understand the watch of the so amiable governors shouldn't be something to give credis about. We should had grown more that that but targeting to challenge with the international standards but anyhow, let who deserves to be appreciated for a single good deed at midst of others who never had the good intentions be praised. Congratulations to the above governors.

We've discussed this matter numerous times, but it always boils down to the fact that our economy is the root cause of about 70% to 90% of the problems we face today. Issues like insecurity, communal clashes, thuggery, banditry, corruption among government officials and individuals, and the lack of trust between leaders and citizens are all fueled by our unstable economy, which has hindered our country's economic growth.

If we reflect on the past decade, it's evident that our economy hasn't significantly improved to be more competitive in the international market. This lack of progress has had little impact on the lives of people within the country. Our success in foreign markets is closely tied to our domestic trade as they go hand in hand.

If our domestic affairs are weak, our international standing won't fare any better. However, the responsibility lies with our government. They possess the framework, capacity, and capability to enact positive change in our economy. They know the necessary steps and strategies to achieve this.

Yet, their failure lies in their lack of will, their unwillingness to listen to the plight of the people, and their failure to empathize with the hardships faced by us, the citizens.

I'm delighted you purchased this. Another change that I believe could benefit is political financing regulation. Right now, there is little visibility regarding the origins of financing for political initiatives, which leads to widespread corruption. If we had rules requiring any contributions to be publicly reported, it could discourage some of the fraud that is taking place. It could also assist to level the playing surface for every applicant, regardless of income. It may also motivate more people to run for government with the goal of serving the public rather than one's own benefit. We could also employ electronics to help citizens monitor the development of elected leaders and hold them responsible for the results of their activities.

The rich want to remain rich no matter what happens. Their intentions is never to make the poor as rich as them. These are reasons why they keep making things hard for the poor. Just few corrected thing can change the country for good but they will never do this. Imagine if our roads and electricity are good, do you know how long it will help our economy. Alot of industries left Nigeria due to poor electricity creating more unemployment to the country. Our leaders know all this but will always turn a deaf hear.

There are good people everywhere but the bad ones influences the good ones to an extent that they will begin to change their perspective of helping the state to looting the country. Just as you have said it's good to have a man of the people as a leader one who's heart is with the masses than his stomach hence growth will keep coming from such good hands.

I usually think that if only one day we emerge by having a good chief executive officer of the country (president) then his good influence backed with power force will eventually transform the country, things we couldn't achieve in 30 years could achieved in 8 years of leadership. Perhaps if it's all dependent on me to make decisions for a nation I think I will retain a good government for up to 16 years than the regular 4 and 8 years rulership we have.

It's true that good government is the driving force of development of a country. And I think such people who do well in leadership should be appreciated with more tenure.

You've said it all @Manlikefrank, at the point and with how far Nigeria have got, we need good infrastructural developments in not only some certain regions of the nations but it should extend to every other regions being the North, East, West and South. And for that to occur we need go minded citizens to step into power and help kick against those corrupt leaders, else the system would remain the same.
We've come to the point where aspirants of different positions shouldn't be going into power with the mindset of looting public funds, they need to consider the poor masses, think about how to eradicate poverty, maintain  a stable economy and make our nation great again. Our country is blessed with enough resources to compete against developed countries, but once a government is bad, then the nation would fail in different areas as currently.
Therefore we need more good citizens to step in power and serve their fatherland with love and in truth thereby not making the labour of our heros past to be in vain, well i believe we'll gradually get to that point, (hopefully) if only other leaders could emulate Alex Otti.

Your ideas regarding how effective leadership may affect the prosperity of a nation are really wise. So, for me, the most important component of this issue is the need to develop strong structures that are capable of withstanding opposition from politicians and ensure that those in government are held held responsible for their acts. In Nigeria, attempts have been made to improve institutions such as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the National Assembly. However, these kinds of organizations frequently deal with budget, capability, and political limitations. Individuals may also play a vital role in holding lawmakers responsible and insuring that they fulfill their commitments to the public.

When government, works for the betterment of it's state and prioritise the well being of its people by focusing on development it will definitely bring about economical growth. What governor Alex oti and governor Mohammed Bago who are making positive strides in their respective States, their efforts in providing consistent power supply, improving infrastructure and boosting Agriculture are commendable. It's always good to see leaders who prioritise the development and well being of their people. There may be challenges and a need for more good leaders but it also important to celebrate and support those who are doing well.

Nigeria and states under it, have immense potential and resources to grow and develop better. All what is needed is selfless leadership and vision driven leaders to bring good governance for our Economical growth.
