I bought some XMR on LocalMonero platform on September 1. The seller completed the trade by sending 2 XMR to the receiving address of my local wallet, that is, Monero GUI Wallet.

On September 3, I sent 1.4 XMR from my local wallet to my account on LocalMonero.

On September 4, I paid 0.5 XMR from my LocalMonero's account to a seller of digital services.

First question: Can someone trace the 0.5 XMR back to my Monero GUI Wallet?

Second question: Is LocalMonero a mixer/tumbler for XMR coins? If your answer is "yes", I assume that AgoraDesk is also a mixer/tumber for BTC coins?

Thanks for your replies.

P.S.: I searched everywhere for answers to the above questions on the whole of this forum and found none; hence this post.

First question: Can someone trace the 0.5 XMR back to my Monero GUI Wallet?

No it cannot be traced. Monero runs on a blockchain that is privacy oriented and the transaction is said to be private through the use of shealth addresses. If a transaction isn’t visible then it will be hard to trace the transaction back to where it originated from and such can not link addresses together.

No both the localMonero and AgoraDesk are decentralized P2P trading exchanges where you convert your coins to fiat or vice versa without having to submit KYC. They are not in any way a mixer or tumbler. You. Can visit the AgoraDesk ANN thread.

First question: Can someone trace the 0.5 XMR back to my Monero GUI Wallet?

Unlike Bitcoin, Monero keeps things private.  When you look at the Monero blockchain, the details of each transaction are hidden from view.  You cannot see the amount of coins being sent or the addresses for the wallets doing the sending.  This helps keep Monero users anonymous.

But it is not perfect anonymity.  The transaction fees and timestamps are still visible and  so if you withdraw Monero from an exchange, they can match up that withdrawal with a transaction on the blockchain using the timing and fees as clues.  They cannot follow the money after that initial transaction though, unless you transfer the coins to another centralized exchange. So Monero offers more privacy than other cryptocurrencies, but moving coins between your own wallets is better than going through exchanges if you want to stay totally anonymous.

No. First, those kind of platform is not a mixer or tumbler. Second, Monero did not require a mixer or any similar platform as such.

Both LocalMonero and AgoraDesk establish their website clearly as P2P platform. You can see it on their respective About page. Regarding Monero, the underlying technologies are inherently private. It developed and implemented to ensure users privacy and security in mind. So there is no reason it requires mixer or tumbler.

First of all Monero (XMR) is a privacy based coin. It is not possible for anyone to trace the origin and the ending of its transaction. It is a coin which acts like a mixer but has its own Blockchain.

A mixers is not a Blockchain, it just jumbles the address to make it untraceable. If I am correct you only have Bitcoin mixture and not for any altcoins. Local Monero is a P2P exchange and not a mixture.

There is no such thing as Monero Mixers or Tumblers.  Such a service would be a waste of money and time.  Monero is inherently Privacy oriented and offers a private way of handling funds.  No body can see where your XMR comes from or whose address it went to.

LocalMonero is simply a platform that allows you to trade Coins.  If you ever hear some body promoting a Monero Mixer.  It is most probably a scam.

-----

But it is not perfect anonymity.  The transaction fees and timestamps are still visible and  so if you withdraw Monero from an exchange, they can match up that withdrawal with a transaction on the blockchain using the timing and fees as clues.  They cannot follow the money after that initial transaction though, unless you transfer the coins to another centralized exchange. So Monero offers more privacy than other cryptocurrencies, but moving coins between your own wallets is better than going through exchanges if you want to stay totally anonymous.
They can match time stamps but they can stick that up their bum because there is no better thing they can do with that information.  You transfer the Coins to another Centralized Exchange and the first Exchange will not even notice.  No body else will either.

Anyway.  What is the point of even using Monero if all I am doing is moving Centralized Exchange funds to personal Wallet and then back to another Centralized Exchange.  It is pointless and useless.

Localmonero is just a p2p trading platform but where the mode of payment is XMR which is fully anonymous unlike bitcoin pseudonymous so tracing isn't possible there. Technically it's not a mixing service and the coin we are talking is not traceable which is same for Zcash, Grin or any other privacy coins.

Why would the most untraceable coin in the space would still be needing a mixer or tumbler? Probably just a platform to buy and sell Monero. I think if Agoradesk will not fully anonymize the Bitcoin transactions on their platform it's just likely a publicity to make people patronize their service. Agoradesk is not a mixer, it's just a centralized exchange with great privacy.

Both are just p2p exchanges where you can try to buy Monero and Bitcoin using cash or sell off your Monero and Bitcoin for cash without having to worry about KYC or having your funds getting blocked with the excuse of suspicious source of funds.

Bitcoin mixers are completely different, and you can find a variety of them in the service announcements board.
