This list is not "abbreviations" but just terminologies, if you're talking to crypto-related abbreviations, then it should be like FOMO, HODL, DeFI, DApp, ATH, KYC, ICO, `too many to mentions.

You can just tell list of terminology and don't include "abbreviations".

I understand your intention but creating new thread just to make it visible on the first page is considered duplicate topic in my opinion. There is a thread created on 2012, 2020, 2022 and reposted the 2012 thread. If ever you forgot something then a little bit of search would do the trick. I agree with the post above that it isn't an abbreviation but terminologies. Well, it's still helpful if you learn about it so you can understand what people meant when they include a terminology in their posts.

Looks like you have a hobby of creating new threads. But unfortunately there are already a lot of threads like that and most of the members here already know the term.

Maybe you read too much so you like to repost existing ones and give suggestions to other members, but hopefully you also have time to do what you suggest to other people. goodluck budd  Wink

For the record the little time I have spent on the forum has made me to realize and understand that reading to understand is the only key to stay alive on the forum, well I have look at most senior high ranks members through their post one can tell the amount of reading and research work there have been doing I gist to there it a easier task at hand to them it use to them already.

A forum senior member told me he could not do without login to the forum for just a week, he say that he is going to hear a little guilty voice that speaks to him and he  said he is already use to it he also told me without reading it  just feels like the end of the world for him…

I know you are trying to contribute to the forum in your own way but it’s not always about creating threads so people notice you as a newbie rather it’s about the knowledge you gather at this time because it will always come through for you as time goes on. As a newbie you are not even supposed to be teaching others or reminding them of some terms and most of the people around are high rank members who are already familiar with these terminologies so i will advise you to rather channel your energy into learning and increasing your knowledge about cryptocurrency because making post of this nature that have already been made several times will not fetch you merits.

Believe me when i say you will hardly earn yourself any merit with this, you will have to put more effort into your posting if you want to impress people here.

Your profile doesn’t say nice things about you as you have already earned yourself a negative comment on your profile, it seems you are fond of shit posting on your local board

Unless these abbreviations contain lists that are updated periodically or at least every month, then they will become outdated, and sometimes by existing and talking about them, you will find that they have become familiar, so there is no need to create topics about them or quote some of them.

4. Tokens - Refers to the ‘currency’ of projects built on the ethereum network that have raised money via issuing their own tokens.
Tokens can be built on any blockchain, not limited to ethereum.

6. Stable coin - A crypto-currency with extremely low volatility that can be used to trade against the overall market.

7. Scam - brief explanation of "Not Paying"
These two definitions are technically incorrect. Too broad to describe the concepts you're trying to explain.

11. PoW - Proof-of-work. The current consensus algorithm used by Ethereum.
The best description of PoW is the Bitcoin algorithm.

13. Software wallet - storage for crypto-currency that exists purely as software files on a computer.

14. Hardware wallet - a device that can securely store crypto-currency.
Software wallets can store crypto securely and hardware wallets if used poorly can be insecure.

You should brush up on the concepts before explaining them to others.

I think the explanation are for a layman's understanding and not too technical. By the way, Op did not create the post himself and if you observe, you'll see it is a quote post. He probably didn't read the post before posting talk more of making a research before explaining to others. Op is fond of making unnecessary posts in the local board which earned him neutral feedback but it seems he doesn't even know what the feedbacks are because there is no improvement after the feedback was given. A typical example of someone who is not yet ready to learn.

That should hold true except that those points I highlighted are not basic explanations but technically incorrect ones.

Explaining stable coins as, cryptocurrency which are created to mirror the price of another asset or commodity (which they are backed by) and maintain that stability of 1:1. For example, each 1 xx coin should always be equal to $1, is a basic explanation. What the OP wrote would only confuse a layman.

I notice the quote too, but I'm replying to the information and not the source.

Never knew CoinMarketCap or any other website had so many of the abbreviations listed on one single page. I see your intent was great to find the best most popular ones and compile them into one list. Great effort however people would just use Google to find anyything they want instead of coming up on this page and reading it. Also, I would have loved if your post used Bold styling instead of quote.

You're right, there's a clear difference between abbreviation and terminologies, I won like to empathize much on this since OP happen to be a newbie, he can do more research to know better, but for the sake of next time, things like this have already been discussed in the past, he can as well always make use of the forum search button to look on the possibility of a topic being discussed already before creating one.
