https://punchng.com/nigeria-on-track-to-attain-food-security-tinubu/I come across this news this morning, do you think president tinubu is trying to make things easier for Nigerians?
If the government really means to achieve this, I promise you they can. They have all it takes to be able to leverage the agricultural sector in the country and use that to bolster the economic development of the state as well as recalibrate the unstable economic and inflation crisis the country is facing today. All the federal government needs to do is to strengthen its investment into food producing states - states that have the fertile land for mass production of food - like in the north we have a lot of states that are into production of cash crops like rice, beans maize etc and in the south where you have states that are massively into the palm oil business and so on.
The federal government can decide to identify the diversity in the farm products those states can make and invest in them respectively. For instance, the main palm oil producing states are in the south-south, southwest and south-east where you have states like Akwa Ibom, Edo, Ekiti, Delta, Enugu, Ogun, Anambra and states like Bayelsa where you find almost everywhere littered with the oil palms.
In the North central, we have states like Niger State with the largest landmass of over 70,000 kilometer square of parable land fertile for the mass production of Rice, Beans, Groundnuts, Milets, Soybeans, Gum Arabic, Cassava, Sesame Seed, Maize and the likes of Shea karnel which are very profitable and are highly demanding for the international market. Niger State alone can be an hub for the production of food and the state can support the federal government and the administration in its food security agenda.
States like Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, and Kebbi are well specialized in Garlic and Cotton while you will get Hibiscus in large quantity from states like Jigawa Kano and Bauchi states.
If I want to continue mentioning, I will probably take some much more paragraphs explaining but in a nutshell, all these are opportunities that the government can leverage because they are God's given natural resources that the land is enriched with. If we as a nation can focus on all of these that I have mentioned, in no time, we attain food security and still have enough to transport out of the country.
