Instead of giving password in DM or something like this, you should just allow users registered with "Bitcoin talk" promo code to join that tournament, because that password just can be easily revealed by anyone.
For existed accounts from bitcoin talk users, you just should add that permission to join into "Special for Bitcoin talk" tournaments.
