How to start a new alt coin from bitcoin source code?

Hi, I want to start my own cryptocurrency using bitcoin version 27.0 (This is just for learning purpose).

The thing is, I don't know how. I have downloaded bitcoin from GitHub and changed some chain parameters

and it didn't go well (compile process was unsuccessful).

Is there a guide on how to start my own cryptocurrency using bitcoin source code?

Or a guide on how to hard fork bitcoin would also be great.

I have been searching for data on various web pages but I can't find the details.
