What happened: A user named COBRAS promoted a scam project for brute forcing wallet.dat passwords. Later, COBRAS reported the scam project, but when I asked them to take responsibility for their involvement, they refused. This raises serious questions about their credibility and motives for reporting the scam.

Amount Scammed: The scam project did not involve any direct financial loss for me, but it could potentially harm people's computers and electricity if they join the pool and provide their computing power.

Payment Method: N/A

I would like to report fraudulent activities involving user "COBRAS" and a pool for brute forcing wallet.dat passwords. The user "COBRAS" has previously advertised this scam project and served as its PR manager, which raises serious questions about their credibility and motives for reporting the scam now.

Red Flags:

  • "COBRAS" has previously advertised this scam project and served as its PR manager, which raises questions about their credibility and motives for reporting the scam now.
  • The project promises a super income for those who join the network, which is a common tactic used by scammers to lure unsuspecting victims.
  • The project claims to have 100 GPUs for recovering wallet.dat passwords, but there is no evidence to support this claim.
  • The project's GitHub repository lacks detail and transparency, and many of the technical details go over my head, so I may not have caught all the red flags.
  • "COBRAS" has refused to take responsibility for promoting the scam project and has not provided any evidence to support their claims.
  • There is no proof that the project actually performs wallet recovery, and the use of GPUs for this purpose may be used for illegal activities, such as brute forcing or hacking someone else's Bitcoin, which is a criminal activity.
  • "COBRAS" has received trusted feedback in the past, which suggest that they are not trustworthy. For example, they have been accused of attempting to scam people by selling a fake exploit or attempting to find co-conspirators to "attack signatures".

Based on these red flags, it's clear that "COBRAS" has engaged in fraudulent activities. Their actions are unacceptable and they should be held accountable for their actions. I urge the Bitcoin community to take action against "COBRAS" and to protect themselves from potential scams and fraudulent activities.

Let me be clear: promoting a scam project is not a victimless crime. "COBRAS" had a responsibility to ensure that the project was legitimate and above board. By promoting this scam, they have not only contributed to the harm caused to other people who participated in the project, but have also damaged the reputation of the Bitcoin community as a whole.

Note:: I'm not an expert and many of the tech details of this project go over my head. Therefore, I may not have caught all the red flags.
