Bitcoin Carving contest [Proposal]

Alright bitcoiners!!! Everyone is quite happy to participate in this year's pumpkin carving contest. However it seems my local board is left out. You may be wondering why and thats. Because of this rule from the official thread of the contest.

• The pumpkin must be a bitcoin pumpkin (Bitcointalk style is allowed).
• Only real pumpkins qualify / Only one pumpkin per user
  

For tourists or indigenes used to Nigeria you would notice that Halloween isn't much celebrated in our country and although we have similar festivals in some regions we actually don't make use of pumpkins for our carvings and that's simply because the easily accessible pumpkin here isn't same with the Halloween pumpkin and thus can't be carved because of it's shape and hard exoshell.

As bitcoiners and contributors to the community here it would be very nice for us to be able to participate properly in the contest if the rule allowed for an alternative like WATERMELON which is as common as pumpkin in Nigeria here. Naija local board is one of the fastest growing board as well as active board in this community and it would be nice if the rules made it easy for us to participate. I too would love to join the contest but getting the regular pumpkin would have me travelling too.

Pumpkin is not popular in Nigeria here, but you can still get those real pumpkins in the market. I don't know which part of the country grows it, but it's being sold in the fruit market in any city of the country. Those who deal primarily with fruit will have it, but it will just be quite expensive, I guess. 
 
I don't know the reason why the rules are so strict this time; maybe it's to maintain the Halloween spirit because last time I saw submissions that were even done with fruits.

Yes you are right, I have already participated on the Bitcointalk pumpkin carving contest. Although it wasn't easy to get a real pumpkin here in Nigeria but I managed to buy one. I have a friend that work as a manager in Chicken Republic, so I gave her the money to order one for me (as they normally buy cabbages), and that's how I was able to get the a real pumpkin. Well, at first I wasn't satisfied with the type of pumpkin (butternut pumpkin) she bought but I did not have any other options than to accept it.

I do not see this as an excuse to use watermelon even if there is no pumpkin grown in Nigeria. Understand me that I do not mean pumpkin is not grown in Nigeria.

If you want to let people understand how Halloween is in Nigeria, we saw it in movies and games and know that Whites are celebrating it. We know how it is done but we do not celebrate it at all in Nigeria. Not that it is not much celebrated but it is not our culture and we do not celebrate it at all.

I have not seen a yellow watermelon before in Nigeria. I have only seen deep and light green water melon before. Many Pumpkins in Nigeria have the same shape as the Halloween pumpkin except that they are light green in colour and not yellow. Their shell may be hard but knife can be used to cut it as usual.

You can get the yellow pumpkin from food store in big cities in Nigeria.

It is not compulsory that everyone must participate. And if you like to participate you can visit your local market to get the real pumpkin and carve it. And if you didn't see it there then you order it in another state like Port Harcourt, Akwa Ibom, Aba, Lagos, and other major states in the country. And it is used to cook food in Akwa Ibom and Port Harcourt Rivers State so they are many there.

People have waybill them these days to various states and probably for the contest and you can contact any who is close to you that has participated in this ongoing contest to send you one and you pay for it.
