No one can grow above the level of his immediate surrounding and connections, and this isn't just a nay saying it's a true fact. There's something you missed here, in this experiment, they're forced to do something with people in that group and they have nothing to lose because the expense have been paid by the organizers.

however its not as simple as hang around with wealthy people causes you to become wealthy via spiritual osmosis..
because if you hang around with people that FAKE being wealthy via doing scams, and running up debt, you too start to do the things that they do.. and thus you dont actually become wealthy you just become someone that temporarily drives rented luxury vehicles and plays wealthy, but then ends up crashing and burning in piles of debt

if you have great mentors and a good honest network of people that truly want to help out and teach you how to be wise with business/money then you have a chance..

There are some merits in this experiment but generally I'd say there are some important variables that were overlooked here. For example someone's personality which can not change in 6 months by changing their environment. I am assuming we are talking about adults like kids because kids could be influenced easier specially if they haven't found themselves yet.

Take me for example. You could place me in an experimental environment for 6 months and force me to do things I wasn't doing before that doesn't match my personality. I'd be in agony there! and I'd strive to get out of it. I may try to adapt a little but the moment I succeed in getting out of that environment I'd go back to what fits my personality.

So in conclusion, based on that experiment, it is proven that our surrounding definitely will affect our behavior and mindset. one of 12 laws of nature, called law of attraction, we can attract people into our life who have the same energy frequency, a person attracts people likeminded. Like any experiment that claims to be scientific, in order to take it seriously I would like to see at least a link to the source, a better explanation of the methodology, ... What it is especially hard to believe is that you said that the participants weren't aware of the fact that they were participating in that "secret" experiment, but they were moved to different districts and paid all of these things by the organisers of the experiment for 6 months?

I once lived in a slum where cultism, drugs and prostitution were common. Now, the environment made us believe that we can only survive by engaging in all these vices. It was common for young children to have role models who were dreaded cultists, rich drug dealers or popular harlots. We never thought that we could be successful without crime. Most of my age mates died or became junkies because the environment influenced them.

My family was fortunate to be connected to a family who just relocated to my location from the US. They were one the richest in the neighbourhood. We were exposed to another part of life when we began to interact with them. They help shape our perspective on life and make us seek success legally. There are many Black Americans who have discovered that regardless of systematic discrimination, they can still be rich. That's the reason why the US had a Black President, and they might have another one this year. I have learned never to believe in public opinion because they are not always right.

Interesting experiment, but let me say, I have seen this method on TV, but whether it is fake or not there are some important points that can be taken. As you illustrate, rich people are placed in poor lives and poor people are placed in rich people's lives.

For rich people (in poor lives) they certainly feel uncomfortable and many things will change their mindset, habits, and perspectives that seem impossible to live. However, 1 thing they still have to do to be able to improve their poor situation is to use the knowledge they have to get out of poverty, take advantage of as many opportunities as possible and in short in the end if they succeed in getting through the 6 month phase, rich people (in poor lives) will appreciate how poor people's habits are.

Then for poor people (in rich lives) the first thing they do is enjoy all the facilities provided without thinking twice. Imagine after living a difficult life and having desires then being placed in a rich situation they will do whatever they couldn't do when they were poor. For them, this is an opportunity that they will never be able to experience again if phase 6 ends.

A lot of part is missing in this study, such as what method that they use in this research and the lack of detail in the results of this study.
