Hello, I would like to present the impudence of the atomic wallet developers and the forgery they use in the case of a certain virtual (in this case, really virtual) bitcoin token based on the eth network. The attached photos will show this scam, what is amazing is that atomic reports that the purchase or transfer transaction was registered online and provides the hash of this transaction, but there is no such transaction on etherscan at all Smiley it's amazing how after such a scandal as an internal hack probably your wallet, instead of closing the project and disappearing from the market, developers are still trying to cheat people. interestingly, this shit cannot be exchanged - swap option - because they do not list it in the official exchange Smiley insolence - an understatement. and yet as you can see, poor people fall for such things...

If you want to make a scam accusation, you should be clearer and give full details about what happened to you. Your post looks more like a personal attack on the wallet and not a scam report.

• Did someone send some weird "bitcoin" tokens to you?
• Were you expecting the said transaction
• Did you incur any loss in this process?
• Have you performed any activity that will put your address in the hands of scammers?

it's not my wallet, it's someone who asked me for help to explain this problem. whether this wallet was attacked before - I don't know, it's possible, but it's not about any attack now, but about the way Atomic shows the value of a non-existent token. I guess you won't tell me that someone attacked the wallet and CREATED such a fake token on it Smiley let's stick to the facts. from what I know, the person who has this wallet somehow bought this fake bitcoin - you can see some IN type transaction there, i.e. entering the eth network for this token. I'm not interested in the fact that a fraudster sold this supposedly bitcoin to someone - it's normal that there are a lot of such fake portals storing your crypto because you bought it and then you can't log in to such portals or they show false data and at the time of withdrawal it turns out to be impossible. . the point is that such a token is in the list of coins in the wallet!! what kind of shit is this, I'm asking, what kind of shit does the Atomic wallet itself allow? There is some token value shown in the supposedly Satoshi BTC form, but on the right there is no value in USD Smiley it's as if Atomic was taking part in this fraud by allowing someone to to such numbers and your wallet, giving the opportunity for fraudsters to operate..... below the hash of this virtual transaction...

quote to show images, agree with you, it is wrong to call BTC an ERC20 token, they changed the logo but did not change the name to WBTC or any other name for the token group. It is better to stop using them and there are many options for exchange and wallet.

I thought you were talking about wrapped btc but it isn't.

Quick look at its stats in etherscan and it look shoddy with unknown reputation, see: https://etherscan.io/token/0x8a5de45f1a5d7c96ebd408f8c3465f9f9b3524f6

I've never touched atomic wallet but I know many ETH chain supporting wallets allows folks to manually add a token not listed out of the box. Looking at etherscan, this token in question is named "Bitcoin (BTC)" so if someone adds it manually, the wallet naturally would pick up the exact name.

This could just be a scam token imo which atomic wallet may not have a hand on unless someone could explain better.

etherscan didn't add any warning or sign that the token could be a scam or change the name but atomic wallet developers should not be lazy and try to put a sign for these worthless tokens. It seems they chose the name Bitcoin (BTC) so that some investors would think it is Bitcoin.

I've tried to report/flag the token in etherscan.io. Anyone who has free time could do so as well. It's pretty easy with a simple form and no email/account needed to submit one.

I'll try to write to atomic wallet shortly. I would also encourage OP esp their friend who I'm guessing is the direct victim to report this to atomic wallet, maybe they'll do something about it.

BTW, op. I think this could fit better in Scam Accusations. Regular chimers there could help in reporting as well.

Who uses atomic wallet in 2024? After their $100+ hack in 2023, I assumed that it was a dead project which is why I'm surprised it is even been talked about. Anybody that still uses it and get caught up with this scam tokens have themselves to blame even if they're new users — you need to do your research before using any product.

As for the token, anyone can create tokens on ETH blockchain due to its permissionless nature. I'll say the blame should be on atomic wallet for not providing a warning tag and maybe etherscan. But it's different from etherscan because they don't have the token listed as a supported or white listed token.

In the first place, I don't use atomic wallet, and according to my research, atomic wallet didn't just have an issue once; the last problem it faced before was the hacking issue. That's why it's really important to do research first on a wallet that we're going to put a large amount of money into.

Because when we rush, for sure we will have a problem with our capital placed in the wallet apps that we will use. So the better place in that matter is to report it to the scam accusations that exist here on this platform.

Hello, I would like to present the impudence of the atomic wallet developers
Atomic is not a good wallet if you know the basic rules "Not your keys, not your coins" as well as importance of open source wallet.

Reviews from walletscrutiny.com show that Atomic wallet is close source. The application is marked as Obfuscated, you can see reviews there.
https://walletscrutiny.com/?platform=allPlatforms&page=0&query-string=atomic

In cryptocurrency, you must use wallet softwares or wallet applications which are non-custodial, and open source.

Quote
and the forgery they use in the case of a certain virtual (in this case, really virtual) bitcoin token based on the eth network.
The second mistake you made is choosing tokens, not actual bitcoin.

Any token on non-Bitcoin blockchains, is not bitcoin, but just a token with peg to Bitcoin price. These tokenized-bitcoin tokens can lose their pegs and with 1 WBTC, for example, you will get either 1 BTC or none BTC. It depends on the peg which can be lost anytime.

If ATOMIC WALLET uses etherscan API, the red mark will appear on them as well.

I think Etheresan does a perfect job in distinguishing the different tokens and their prices, otherwise it would be one of the shittiest Explorers out there. I just checked the smart contract of the fake BTC on Etherscan, and it doesn't even show its on-chain market cap or circulating supply.

Wherever Atomic wallet is getting its prices from, it must be so messed up.

Otherwise, we have always advised users to avoid shitty closed source wallets.

The Atomic Wallet hack is a recent event, though not very distant. Accusing the developers of sending funds without clear wallet identification is speculative. A thorough investigation is necessary to determine if the issue lies with the developers or hackers. Jumping to conclusions without good evidence can be harmful to the wrong people. It's crucial to make good research before making accusations.
