I would like to ask community's advice. I have been searching for vacancies at companies which are looking for a crypto trader to join their team. I bumped into Verdigris holdings. They have a website an their HR lead has answered my inquiry. At the first glance, they looked interested in my application and wrote about an outline of the steps involved in their hiring process:

I have answered those initial questions, after what they gave me an instruction of reaching their trading platform to perform my skills. Those practical task (which I haven't really seen yet) required downloading and installation of the OpenVPN Connect Client (of which I have never heard before) and connecting their server through this VPN. Installation process failed, as my antivirus detected it as a threat. I could not come further and connect their server. I wrote to them about such a problem and now I am waiting for an answer.

Meanwhile I started to dig deeper and tried to find out more about this company. That's when I started feeling suspicious about them.
- They have a website and X page, however, they don't have LinkedIn or Reddit or Medium or Facebook profiles.
- HR posted a link to his LinkedIn, but the page doesn't open (I am not sure it exists)
- There is information in Reddit about this OpenVPN Connect Client , but I don't understand, why it didn't instal.
- There is information about founders and investors of this company, but most of them don't work with them anymore (as far as I understood)
- Their answer letters to me seem to consist AI generated content (but not all the services of AI detection showed such result, that is why this is maybe due to the sample they use)
- They didn't mention my previous replies to the initial questions at all, there were no context answers from them about it. Just moving to the step 2.

I would like to ask community`s advice to help me understand if I am dealing with some adequate application process, or is it some kind of a scam. I will post updated here, maybe new information will shed more light on the situation. But I would like to know something better so far.

I can't find much else other information but this sounds fake, sorry bro. The first warning trigger for me among everything you put out is that you coldcalled them, and got through an interview, without actually being qualified. You're not a crypto trader, right? And they hired you for 130k per year? Bro that's more than 2x what a top A-star grad would earn at PWC in London in his first 3 years:)

OpenVPN is nothing wrong btw. All tech companies now if you do HR or test, you will connect with VPN, but usually, they will have their own VPN. It's what I use to access my company's servers, no other way to access Smiley

I think you got me wrong. I didn't cold call them and got an interview. I just applied for this position and got first response, which consisted of the next steps. I passed through the first step and received the task for the next one. That`s when suspicion occurred.

I was not yet hired. I just moved to the second step, to the practical task.

By the way, what makes you think I am not a crypto trader and I am not qualified for this job?)) And this salary they announced, it looks quite in the range, considering the requirements (and they mentioned "up to", not the exact number). I think it is a usual thing that people in crypto sector earn much more than in other traditional fields.

OpenVPN is a reputable vpn protocol along with wireguard (if you're more familiar with them) and many popular vpn providers use them. I've used the app before to connect to some servers. However, make sure you did not download the software from a phishing website.

Verdigris seems legit tho as I've also seen references of them from reputed sites like nasdaq. At the very least, it's not a straight up scam IMO. Company health and stuff like overall quality of service is ofc a different story.

Coldcall doesn't necessarily mean picking up a phone, but yes I missed that the job vacancy was there but they didn't advertize and you found it, its semi cold call for me, but okay I retract that point anyway.

Oh about you not being a crypto trader, I'm just assuming if you already had a trading job, you wouldn't be looking for a trading job, you'd be looking either to manage portfolio (portfolio manager) or trading desk manager. I'm assuming you want a trader job now because you aren't a trader yet. Smiley Sorry if I'm wrong about that! The fact you actually responded makes me realize I could be totally wrong about you though Smiley

Which means I could be wrong about this being a scam (still feels like one). The AI thing is a big problem though, you havent' spoken to a real person, or a real HR manager, so that's red flag moment.

A qualified crypto trader in my mind for the pay you mentioned needs some kind of license/certification, and usually MsC. But you could be right, maybe the salary range has gone way up since I last checked in 2017 lol I mean Binance were recruiting entry level traders for max 3k a month I remember people falling over to apply.

Good luck man, I would love to know if you get a crypto trader job of this range. Probably first on the forum.

slaman29, I traded independently, and I was quite satisfied with how everything was going. I am generally focused on working for myself, not for someone else. The reason why I am looking for a job as a crypto trader is not that I am not a crypto trader yet, but that I do not have my own sufficient trading deposit, it is too small, and the interest I earn on it has ceased to cover the necessary expenses, since the economic conditions in my country are very bad, and everything has become even worse in the last few months. I live in Ukraine, we have been at war for 2.5 years, and what I did for living before is no longer available. I have to look for new opportunities, that's why I was looking for a remote vacancy.
By the way, they advertised this vacancy on various job search sites, so there was advertisement, dissemination of this information. Of course, I was specifically looking for this kind of vacancy, but they also mentioned it not only on their own site.

Then I wish you very well on your journey. If you get the job, you should share it. I know there are some good traders here on forum (very few but very good) but I don't know a single person who made it professionally as a full time job. Its amazing pay if it happens, don't mind working for someone else to get the good contacts and insight that helps you personally.

We are from different parts of the world but probably similar economic situations. Fk the war, it affects us all, we all are looking for things I moved from my country long time ago and forever I think live as a foreigner now everywhere.

Keep us updated. I would resume the application, VPN is normal as I said and others said. But try find someone real to speak to. Good luck. From my honest heart.

Thank you very much for your support! I wrote to them, asking what can be done to solve my problem with VPN. I also downloaded this OpenVPN Connect Client from their official site, like I was advised, and I managed to install it. That is why I have lead doubts that this could have been some kind of a scam of fishing link. I am waiting for the company`s response, I really hope they are legit and I will continue to compete for this position. I will keep you updated in this topic.
