Is 2024 the Year of Memecoins?

So far, 2024 can be termed the Year of Memecoins, following in the footsteps of 2021 when Shiba and Doge made a name for themselves.

Despite numerous rug pulls this year, we've seen some decent runs in memecoins. POPCAT recently reached a billion-dollar market cap, while MEW, MYRO, BRETT, and WIF have all hit triple figures in market cap since their launches.

But I think we're not done yet. I recently discovered Catdog, a dog-themed coin with a strong community. It's currently just under a $100 million market cap and is already listed on a few exchanges. For meme lovers, I believe this could be a good bet for the medium or long term. What do you think?

Coin memes are currently popular, I agree with you but I don't follow the coin memes you mentioned and I got carried away by the trend of Dogs coin memes but until now I haven't made any claims even though they are currently popular, because now is the launch time on every market exchange they choose

2021 actually was the year of meme coins. That's when almost any meme coin that was launched during that year were pumped. There were also a lot of shillers including Elon Musk that have been memeing and tweeting about Dogecoin.

This year, as a year of meme coins? likely. Maybe on a 2nd wave of that time when most of the meme coins first from the Solana network became successful.

Now, we're seeing projects in the TON network with the telegram apps that are advertising the meme coins built there, could also become somewhat successful too at the end of this year.

I think 2025 will be when memecoins get BIG. I think things are just warming up this year. I think the market can get at least 10x bigger than it is today, and in a very short period of time.

In my opinion, what is needed for memecoins to get to the next level is a strong focus on making things safe and easy for consumers by providing a curated environment that doesn't allow any funny business.

Once consumers have a platform they can use that is free of pump-and-dump, rug-pulls, tech failures, and other issues, then they will start coming in droves and investing much more of their money.

And once people discover a platform that allows meme founders to just concentrate on their meme, their branding and their promotion--and leave the technical and governance side to a dedicated platform, there will be more memes to invest in than ever before.

But the market is still warming up. If might grow a lot in 2024, but I think it will start to explode in 2025.
