 There's a widespread viral disease in some part of Africa and it's in Nigeria currently, this viral disease is called Monkey Pox and it's recently spreading in the South Eastern part of Nigeria currently especially in Enugu and Ebonyi state, about thirty six people have been infected with this disease in Enugu state while four out of those thirty six have been treated and discharged whereas just one person is confirmed currently in the Nigerian Canter For Disease Control (NCDC) center, Ebonyi state.

 My reason for creating this post is cause it was said by NTA international in a news yesterday that according to the NCDC, many citizens across the nation are not aware of this recent disease that could be contacted by merely coming in contact with someone who already contacted the disease, I believe some people here might have heard of it but since the government through NCDC are currently creating awareness, i decided to bring it to the notice of our brothers here to be careful and report suspected cases maybe from neighbours or direct relatives to the nearest health center in their areas.

 According to news from NTA international, it's not as deadly as the Covid 19 and persons who contacted this disease can be cured and treated free by the government if reported immediately to the nearest government hospital and the symptoms of this disease are as follow;
Fever
Muscle/back ache
Sore throat
Pimple like sores with pox
Severe headache.

 Well asides this information passed, health is wealth and everyone needs to be cautious of their health and go for regular check-ups.

The world health organization has released list of regions of affected area where the spread of mpox has gained dormainnace and at the time, Nigeria was not among. Untill you made this thread and I had to check the official Facebook page of the Nigeria center for disease control, I didn't know that the mpox virus has gotten to Nigeria and it's still yet to be updated on the world health organization website that Nigeria is currently experiencing the surge of this virus.

The rate of spreading information like this is most times too slow such that before the information gets to the majority of people, a lot of people have gotten infected and the case has escalated just like what happened recently with the cholera outbreak.

After the COVID when we knew much about the ncdc, they've not done enough to ensure that information that's dropped on thier social media handle gets acccros the people fast enough. How many persons still watch news that much? Social media should have been the best medium to be adopted in spreading serious issues as this but unfortunately that's not happening.

Thanks for bringing this information to the forum, I believe it has created a sense of consciousness on this outbreak and one can take measures to protect ones self on time.

Make I use this thought-provoking topic wey you create, take advise many of our members here wey either na travellers wey they do travel or get family members wey they into Inter-state travels or that travel outside the country, to be on guard against the contracting of this Monkey pox disease outbreak and to try to get themselves vaccinated, the earliest. I been see news where them talk say European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control been caution countrypeople wey dey into traveling make them take Monkey pox vaccine especially if them know say them they travel go eastern part of Africa where the disease outbreak was discovered.

According to WHO, the disease was discovered in DR Congo and from there e begin spread until e reach countries like Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Uganda. Now E don enter some part of Nigeria too which calls for more caution from the side of the individuals who deal with public and the responsibility of the government wey suppose spread more information about these things.

As I speak to you so, Monkey pox outbreak no be something wey don loud for the country, e fit be say na because say them talk say e no dangerous like Covid-19 or Ebola virus disease, maybe na why e never they very popular among people yet. But them be talk say e somehow they easy to contract too because just by touching touching with the patient, person fit pack am including through sexual engagement.

I sabi say the vaccine don they available and na just two dose them WHO recommend give people. Them talk say the disease na like small pox, so the vaccine wey go cure small pox, na him go cure am. I sha know my country and the kind slow and relaxed government wey we get, this na why e good make we begin they enlighten ourselves on the risks attached to the disease and what's needful from onset to prevent the communicating of the disease.
