Since its launch, this new network has drawn a considerable chunk of hashpower.
Merged mining, in simple terms, allows miners to work on multiple cryptocurrencies simultaneously, all while using the same computational effort. For example, in the case of Bitcoin and the Namecoin network, miners can secure both blockchains at the same time without burning extra energy and reap the rewards.
At the moment, major mining pools like Antpool, F2pool, and Spiderpool, which contribute hashrate to the Bitcoin network, are also merging their mining efforts with Fractal Bitcoin. Interestingly, about 108 EH/s of Fractal’s hashrate comes from unknown miners.
The remaining 133 EH/s is provided by the three mining giants mentioned earlier. While Fractal Bitcoin’s hashrate isn’t yet on par with Namecoin’s 353 EH/s of merged mining power, it’s getting there. Rootstock’s sidechain, for instance, has around 310 EH/s dedicated to its network.
Nevertheless, Fractal Bitcoin managed to absorb 241 EH/s of hashpower in its first 24 hours. According to Coinex stats, fractal bitcoin (FB), the native token, is currently priced at $14.83 per coin. The exchange reports approximately 2.18 million FB in circulation, giving the token a market valuation of $3.15 billion. When FB trading started, the coin was valued at $23.87.
