Scammer Targeting Beginners!

What happened:: This scammer pretends to have been scammed by a fraudulent platform and has posted about it in the beginners' section. He mentioned the name of a person he supposedly contacted regarding the scam he experienced and then provided an email address, claiming that this person helped him recover his scammed funds from the exchange platform.

What he is actually doing is an attempt to lure beginners into contacting this email so they can fall into the trap.

I hold myself accountable for trusting a stranger's promises about crypto investments—a mistake fuelled by greed and blindness to the warning signs. Additional Notes: This is a warning for beginners not to trust such stories told by new members or newbies. Do not believe that if you get scammed, you can recover your funds simply by contacting a stranger or using a random fund recovery platform. Please do your research.

It's quite ridiculous he wants a second scam. I never heard anyone could recover scammed funds from the scammers unless it's legal authority. Even recovering funds through a legal authority isn't too easy. There are a lot of formalities that are quite impossible to fulfil by us as small investors.

Actually, he is lying and wants to scam people a second time. They target innocent greedy users, so some of them would fall into this trap. However, thanks for sharing with us. Everyone should know about this type of scam. At least our forum users must not fall into such a trap.  Keep sharing if you found such scammers.

It's a crypto recovery scam. It usually targets people who have just lost their crypto to a scammer and are desperately trying to look for ways to recover the funds. The end result is the victim get scammed twice if they are not careful.

I see this kind of stupid posts in less moderated platforms like twitter, Trustpilot etc. The good news is that our mods seems to be so active in deleting such posts when reported as off-topic or spam, so they are rare here. Please, next time you see such a post, report it to the mods as well. I am going to tag the scammer as well.

I will not say the victims are greedy but they lack knowledge about crypto scam. Few of scammers like this were arrested last year.

But crypto recovery scammers are too many. It is a very common scam.

On this forum, they are also very common. Just that we are reporting them as fast as possible and moderators are taking their posts down. It is the scam I mostly report on this forum which their post are also often deleted.

New people are coming into the crypto space and most of the old scam methods still work on them. I wish crypto newbies spend more time reading on online forums before they invest their money.

This is an old method. Some people even pretend to be victims and post links to Ponzi scam sites and try to get users on their websites. At first, they post as if they are getting scammed and then they post like they got paid so people get interested to check the website. It is good that you spotted this guy promoting his platform here.

That would be awfully painful. I guess when thinking about things in this context, we might understand why some hold so much prejudice on cryptocurrency if they've fallen something like this. To be scammed not once, but twice.

Agreed. There is a lot of room for improvement when it comes being informed before using Bitcoin or any other crypto for that matter. It seems the world has opted for "learn the hard way" first over learning before hand. It's been an interesting (and sad) phenomena to witness.

Forum is very helpful. But I remember when I first knew about bitcoin. I searched for how to avoid crypto scam. I also searched for how to avoid wallet hack. I know these are the two most important thing I need to know that time. I saw many articles online about both that were helpful. Also staying updated on news platform is very good. That was 2019 or so. There have been new scam means and hack after that time. Bitcointalk and news really helped a lot for the updates.

The cryptocurrency community is one of the industries where an old trick of scamming method never fades because of new people coming in; scammers may not post it here but on other platforms where there are many newbies on cryptocurrency.
Like the old casino deposit bonus, its a very old scam method, but keeps popping up. They never get tired of using these old methods; we should also not get tired of tagging them.

The purpose of creating any topics like this is to help a group of beginners to learn the lesson and been able to recognize this scamming method, and to stay away from any means of recovering their stolen assets.. This is because 99% of those who claim to assist beginners in recovering their assets are scammers.

If they come across this method elsewhere, they will likely recognize it, ignore it, and protect themselves from being scammed. Even though old tricks continue to resurface, increasing awareness and exposing them will eventually lead to their extinction, forcing scammers to resort to other tactics.
