Soo heres the quick backstory...my laptop crashed while traveling this weekend and I have already purchased a new laptop.  Thankfully, I have backups of my wallets but they are all at home on my external HD, however I wont be back for a few days.  I know what my Private Key is, and also my password.

My question....is it possible within MultiBit to simply type in my Private Key & Password, and then have it sync so I can have access?  Or, do I have to wait until I can get my backup/wallet files and load them into the newly downloaded multibit app on my new laptop?

Well you should wait anyway until Multibit will sync.
You will have no access to those coins anyway.

So just install Multibit. Sync it. Import private keys. Enter password. Use coins.
IMO.

Even if its possible to type in my private key to recover it, I wouldnt be able to use the coins?  That's the way I read your response, but regardless ty for the response!
