I hope this doesn't get me in trouble, I am just curious about this is all, now that Trump is taking over as the first crypto president today and the SEC chairman is out of the picture don't you think allowing mixers back on the forum is not a bad idea now?

Before you scold me for bringing this up, a popular privacy coin was scrutiny-free some days back making it surge in value, now privacy projects can finally breath free.

I hope to get a feed back on this.

Trump and his administration are still taking a hardline stance against drugs, trafficking and violent crime.
Mixers are associated with money laundering which is connected to the above.

Theymos' reply is very relevant, but we’ll still have to wait and see if there’s any positive news regarding mixers (though I’m not very optimistic). Trump can be unpredictable, often making rushed decisions. But if anything good happens for crypto, especially to protect our privacy, that would definitely be worth celebrating. So, for now, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed.

Money laundering is illegal for suce and US authorities have 100% put bitcoin addresses under sanctions. It's crazy to see an alphanumeric string there among the likes of ISIS and Al-Qaeda... They didn't budge.

Now with the trump administration, don't think we're safe. We still have 4 years to go. Imagine if while crypto had become big and had all the market access and volume that it has now, drug trafficking with crypto become uktrs popular. Do you think the Trump administration is going to keep crypto so close to its heart? Absolutely no. They'll be very glad to vetrsy our community.

Is this not the same thing as banning a mixer? When they restrict all financial service providers from dealing with coins that have a connection with mixers, what’s the difference from a ban?

I think you might have missed the aspect of it from what had already been talked about still on same mixers issue, the forum and the Trump administration under the thread second chance for mixers, but i will like to quote the reply from what theymos has already replied concerning that below, which i think should be the final answer to your question on this aspect.

For the mixer policy to be reversed, the legal environment would have to improve a lot. I think that one of these would have to happen:
 - Some mixers win their court cases.
 - Congress passes laws which explicitly protect mixers.
 - The administration ends up being extremely pro-privacy, better than 99% of politicians in office.

It'll take at least a year before we have a good idea of what the new administration will really be like, but my expectation is that they will only be ~10% better than the Biden administration in this area. I would be surprised if they dropped the case against the Tornado Cash devs, for example.

The Trump administration could be a lot better than I expect, but they could also be a lot worse.

OP, refer to this topic and read. Also ask questions because that topic is still open, it is better than creating multiple posts of the same topic. Before now, when people discover that the topic they raised is already being discussed in another thread, they'll quickly lock their own thread and join the conversation in the older thread. But users don't do that anymore, they prefer to create a new thread.

Somehow you missed the thread that was created when Tornado Cash had the sanctions against it overturned. I hope you know that there were few Mi*ers that were banned by the US so if you think the US government unban them or they introduce a favorable policy for the M*x*rs, then the admins on this forum may think about allowing this stuff back in the forum. I don't think it will be a sensible decision to get them back at this moment when there is no change in stance from the government authorities.
