Sincerely this is shameful thing they have done and they are not worthy to be trusted in their position or even being elected as government officials. Usually there are laws that binds them and stopped from gambling and whenever it's violated then they do lose their respective offices and for sure, they shouldn't found gambling or involving themselves into gambling as this could leads funds misappropriation and it's highly prohibited for government officials to involves these into gambling activities.

The official violated the law because officials should not be involved in gambling, as it can damage the public's image and trust in the official and other officials, which will arouse public suspicion. This case sets a bad example for society, especially if the gambling money comes from corruption. I'm sure many people are angry with the official, especially those who are not pro-gambling. Cases like this not only result in the loss of office but also must be punished according to applicable law to serve as a deterrent to other officials. And I'm sure cases like this will cause many lay people to blame gambling because in any case involving gambling, the fault lies with those who have a problem with their gambling activities.

This is the sad part on my country when it comes to corruption not only about the official playing gambling but also about them getting a fake ID that is accepted by the casino valid KYC.

Either the ID is legit with fake credentials or the casino itself colluded with the suspects in exchange for the money they can get from these high roller players.

These officials need to face the consequences because they have deprived the masses of some social benefits. These government personnel were asking and collecting bribes from the people, using them for gambling. Some people will immediately blame gambling for this misbehavior. But this is a clear case of corruption because they would have spent the money on something else if not gambling. I am waiting to see how this case will unfold.

If they get convicted, they’ll serve 6 to 15 years. That’s long enough for them to really feel it and miss years with their family. It’s a punishment nobody would want, but they need to face the consequences. Stealing government funds is basically stealing from the people.

And based on the news, that’s just one area, we can already see how massive the corruption is. I’m sure more names will show up on the list. The sad part is the real masterminds at the top usually don’t get convicted since they never sign anything. Hopefully the others will learn not to cooperate with corrupt officials, because at the end of the day, they’re the ones who will end up suffering.

I hope that they get convicted and striped of their assets to serve as a deterant to other government officials that will want to follow their footpaths. The casinos have no fault in this because if the corrupt officials had won the casinos should have paid them heavily for their wins. Unfortunately for them I believe that they lost everything now they have to shame themselves and their loved ones including losing the assets that they aquired legally. Greedy people that gambles are likely to lose all their money, take loans and scam others to chase loses, let us only gamble with our own money.

It's not an exclusivity of Philippines, though. Politicians in general are pretty toxic in most countries, probably with few exceptions. There is mistrust in the air everywhere these days. Government's officials, who were supposed to be reputable and trustful, are corrupt just like the politicians who put them where they are. In the end it's the average individual who has to carry the burden of society, so this select caste can enjoy all the benefits money can offer them in an illegitimate way.

It might not be exclusive for a country like the Philippines, but it seems that right now, the corrupt practice is really exposed not just in their country, but around the world. So it's like a shame to the whole country. And if we look at history, the son of the late dictator and accused of also plundering the country is the sitting President, so it's like history repeats itself again. But this time, everyone is corrupt and so I don't know what the our Filipinos will do right now. Just look at Indonesia or again their history as well in 1986. And even if there is a new election, it's very hard to know who we need to vote that is not corrupt.
