To learn hand work good oh but many people no really know why and na now them don dey see reasons why e good to learn hand work especially some wey go service, after school nah wetin remain? White collar job abi
This is one major problem many Nigerian youths also faced, many of them no no the importance of hand work because some of our parents fail to guide there children, no direction and talks to sharpen there mindset in preparation for adulthood. So some just grow dey follow the life like dat, anywhere E carry dem go, no problem. Na now so many of us they realise say hand work good.
I have heard so many people say, ''if to say I know, I for go learn hand work after secondary school instead of this school I go, or instead of to stay for house since''. This statement is a clear indication that such persons never knew the importance of getting a skill. Am also a victim of this, thinking of higher education even when I know there was no money to further, then I sat at home, got a private school teaching job and stayed there for up to 10yrs, just imagine. Na later I come dey think say if I to say I no, I for don go learn skill.
Even though there are still areas where people learn skills and pay much attention to apprenticeship, but there is a general decline, Yea, a drastic decline. I must say that some of the reasons for the decline a real and genuine while some are just wrong reasons to me.
*Online jobs(not yahoo)- the internet has become an abode for making clean money for our knowledgeable youths. Lots of work such as the web3, freelancing jobs, affiliate marketing, drop shipping, online survey job, forest trading and investment platforms, designing and so many others. A youth who has learnt such skill online early enough would prefer staying indoors working and getting paid rather than take plenty instructions under hit sun and pressure from his OGA and senior apprentice. And you know, some of these jobs pays in dollars, you can compare the value of dollars and Naira and make your choice. These are nice and genuine work that can keep any youth out of apprenticeship for life.
*Then internet fraudsters(yahoo boys) This one Na the oga kpata kpata now wey dey reign for our youths now. I believe in almost every remote and a bit developed area now in the country, 50% of the youths are involved in yahoo. Because they have seen others make it, build houses, buys cars, and live a better in terms of spending, they all move that way. It's a quick money making work, so they don't care of any consequences, they do the dirty work, and get the money, after all, ALL DIE NA DIE, thats there reply each time you try to talk sense to them.
So generously, i no go really blame anybody wey no dey workshop, or they learn any skill. So long as you are doing something that fetches you money, either indoor or outdoor, all we need is the money to make life better. But it's better we get a good and legal means of getting the money rather than defraud people there hard earned money, it's really a bad means, because if you too are defrauded, you no go like an at all.. let's do the right thing and let it be you own role in making the country a better place for all of us.
