There have been concern on citizens who are complaining about bad government and how it has limited to them to become what they truly wanted to be in life. Must have heard of people saying they cant get jobs because the government dont provide jobs, they have less pay so they can even pay for vacation or staycation in a good resort. I have even come across someone who said, he would have been successful if not for the bad government in the country.

My question is, when did we realize the government was not limiting us? As a person we can write our own story, no matter the condition, I believe the opportunities are out there but we keep looking at every possible excuse and someone to shift blame on.

I don't quite agree with you, government has a major role to play by giving enabling environment for entrepreneurship and small business startup to grow, good policies that will attract huge investors and industrialization. A government is supposed to providing social amenities for the people to live quality lives, imagine a country that cannot boast if 24 hours power supply. I know that there are lazy people who expects the government to take care of their every needs and if it doesn't happen they will blame government and every other person for their downfall.

In a country that is governed by bad leaders their citizens finds it difficult to prosper but the same citizens will migrate to countries that have good leaders and you will see them prosper. To be able to succeed in a bad economy you need to struggle so much before you can make it compared to those in well planned economies, that is why the rate of poverty is extreme in most African countries. Not because most of them are lazy but their corrupt governments will make sure that the gap between the rich and poor is very wide.

I don't agree with you on this OP, the government are responsible for the setback of any educated citizen in the country, and insecurity in the country have also restricted them from going to some places that could help them grow. Yes, most graduates don't have job because the government has failed to provide jobs for them, and you think the government is not responsible for their setback? I have a friend that is a graduate for a few years now and up till today there is no job for him and even the shop he was managing has been vandalized by hoodlums and that's unemployment and insecurity tormenting him, and you still think he can write his own story and make it big?

So in essence you are saying that the citizens are responsible for their own unemployment and insecurity in the country? As much as I don't seem to agree with @Agbamoni on his claim that the government isn't the one limiting  the citizens, I still have to point out here that the citizens themselves still have a role to play in their setbacks.

In a country where bribery and corruption is very common in the society, wealth and other benefits coming from the government will not be effectively distributed to those who really need them. Imagine when the government funds scholarships, grants, empowerment, health care and other things which should be given to the masses, yet the people in charge of distribution choose to either sell them or give it out to their families alone. How will things ever get better in such an environment? Funny enough, the government gets blamed for everything, even the corrupt citizens blame the government too.

Of a truth, bad leadership can slow things down and limit the extent people can go even when they're capacitated enough to achieve more but blaming government for everything can also trap us in a cycle of excuses. For me, the realization came when I saw ordinary people, in the same “bad system,” still managing to rise, innovate and even build global relevance. That made me understand that while government might not always help, it doesn’t have to be the obstacle stopping me.

There are opportunities everywhere it takes a strong and determined person to look beyond the sufferings and the bad economic system of the country to step up and do something meaningful to better his life. Of a truth the government is not helping us but self development and and the zeal you have to become better will always push you to look beyond what you are passing through to achieving something great for yourself.

The truth is the government has a role to play in every society. I know the government can't possibly do everything for the people in order for them to be successful, but the government can create an enabling environment for the people to thrive in. The government can't spoon feed everybody, but if they set up things in place to aid the masses the people won't depend much on the government. Take it or leave it, the government has a part to play for the citizens to be successful. There are some economic policies that will come in place, it will make the people or destroy the people. So we can't totally exempt the government in the woes of the people if they remain in poverty.

I'm not entirely following. Since government is the primary limiter of every human life in many ways, I think what you mean is that we can still accomplish a lot despite the government ruining most aspects of life. Government is actually so philosophically corrupt in many ways in every country I'm aware of with respected geographic boundaries that I don't know of a place in which the government isn't the primary limiter of success in any given person's life.

Every person has the responsibility to replace the government and the only people truly doing well are those who are actively involved in doing what the government does but correctly.

Our leaders are not our setbacks, only if we recognize why we should take full responsibility of our own self and stop depending on them for survival, this life can come with lot of disappointment, we have to learn on being independent, do that others can also rely on us and benefits from what we have to impact on them, not that we are always waiting on government to do what is on our own capacity to do for ourself and other people.

Even when so many people have this mindset that the government bad economic concern for the citizens has lead them to explore other options and become more useful to themselves, it still doesn’t take away the fact that if the government does the right thing, exploring other forms of survival will become more easier than we are having it now. The government plays a pivotal role in the condition of its people and one way or the other, the living condition of the people is important for them to even wanna explore other profitable options for sustainability.

We should all see this in a different perceptive, especially as Nigerians. There are alot of graduates who are energetic and willing to work but there is no job. The few available jobs are gotten by recommendations and connections. I am using my country as an example.
But if you travel to US, Canada or any European country, you will be gainfully employed and paid, this is why Nigerians are travelling on a very high note.
Then ask yourself what the leaders of those countries did differently from your own leaders. Their leaders used the national treasury to develop their country while our leaders steal ours to the last kobo. Leaders go a long way to decide the future of their fellowers.

A good governance can actually make things easier for their subjects which is the citizens when they failed to fulfill their obligations, like making provisions for things like social amenities, including employment opportunities, for a government that cares about their citizens lots of things can be better, but for an individual to completely rely on what the government can for him is wrong, you help yourself with the available resources, get prepared for opportunities, create opportunities for yourself such that when the government provides other opportunities it will become a plus, I believe that there are still government of countries that do have plans in taking care of their citizens tha others.

By law the government has the responsibility of creating a decent job opportunity to their citizens so that once they are done with school they don't need to struggle to get employment base on their field of studies but the government has failed to do their job very well that is why after living school graduates still struggle to get jobs to take care of their families. The jobs are not supposed to be few every interested person who is willing to work is not supposed to lack what to do it is the responsibility of the government and if you are working you pay your tax which is your duty as a citizen. Now you graduated instead being employed in the field of your study you become self employed what if you don't have the capital to start up a business, no one should rely on the government they will always disappoint you.

Seriously, when I think bout those days, it hurts me deep honestly because I wanted to be career guy. I read 5 years plus a two year internship as an Engineer only for me to become an IT expert. Its obvious life doesn't go as we do plan it while growing it, and relying for anyone nor the government is the greatest mistake anyone will do in this generation. There is no good opportunities anywhere, in fact these days you have to pay to get a job. And lastly, your qualification will be valid only if the opportunity presents itself.

Personally I have never been a believer of the government right from when I was a kid so growing up to an adult I never trusted them to the point of depending on them for anything I want to achieve in life my reason is because the government doesn't care they just want to make money for themselves and their families nothing else.

If you trust the government to give you employment so that you will be rich or become an important person in the society they will be limiting you to the things you would have achieved if they never existed but the fact that I believed that they can't help me gave me the courage do work my ways out by developing myself and getting a business that doesn't require the help of the government for me to operate.

A working government makes like easier for the society but when the government is bad it has lots of consequences but that doesn't stop people from trying to help themselves where the government failed if one keeps waiting for the government to put food on their table then they might remain hungry especially those that are coming from society where the government is not functioning properly as it's supposed to.

 Some people use the government as excuses to their failure, they act as if the job the government provide is the only means people survive with. The topic is good but I think it's a complicated one, we have a different aspect when it comes to leadership. One thing we much understand is that our leaders won't be able to meet to all our needs, but they have an important rule to play in our growth. Yes we can decide to be our boss without looking for work from them but don't forget that without them doing what is needed from them we can't actually have a smooth working environment.
